Lawsuit Waiting To Happen?

You tell me.....

(I'm sure there must be a few legal eagles, beagles, whatever....hanging around here)

Remember that second speeding ticket I got recently? Well, I felt the need to look at it today and was reminded of a few things that I think some people might have an issue with.

This ticket has these options for "Person Information"

Name(last, first, middle):
Residence Address:
City: State: Zip: Phone:

here's the interesting part

Race: __White __Black __Asian __Am Indian

Ethnicity: __Hispanic __Non-Hispanic

After that it goes into male/female, height, weight, etc....

Am I the only one seeing a problem with this?

There only exists TWO ethnic groups?

Not only that but the fine fella ASSUMED I was NON-HISPANIC....hmmmm is it really meant to say
__looks hispanic __looks non-hispanic

It's my understanding the fine folks in Austin decided this should be the format used for all tickets and soon they will all have these options...and ONLY these.

If in fact this seems ok and legal and all that crap: please tell me how so.....?

I have one thing to say, LULAC! Started out good, turned into a whiney, we've been down trodden for so long, we still want all the benefits even if we don't deserve them, we want all the attention, AND more rights than anybody else group! At least in this part of the country. I am NOT anti-Hispanic, just anti-LULAC! If anyone is interested, I can post my own personal experience to this phenomenon on my blog.

Yep... It's similar here in southern california. It's so pervasive that anyone wishing to work in a county government job MUST speak spanish. There's even legislation on the books that permits DMV to issue a drivers license to an unregistered mexican immigrant. Can you believe thet? Even their children are permitted to enter the public school system - AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE! Oh man... don't get me started...

I suspect there's nothing untoward about surveying enthicity, so long as it's census based and not used as a bias in the law enforcement system (eg, hispanics are treated differently than non-hispanics). It may simply be a way of determining which language to send court correspondence in or perhaps to allocate interpreters for a potential court appearance? Maybe?
