Where were you when you found out?
What did you do?
Has it impacted you in any way?
Please don't ever forget.

i was in the car driving to work

at the time i was working with children with cancer

we were busy that day and didn't have time to let what had happened sink until the end of the day

i hope we don't forget 9/11 and the many other unecessary atrocities that have ocurred in our brave new world

I was at home in Athens. I was watching TV, and watched it live.
I just couldn't believe it...
To this day a tear comes in my eye when I think about it.

Hello...This post is to remind you about the Blogger's Convention scheduled October 21,22,23 and set for the ChicagoLand area(Bolingbrook--a suburb)

It is a chance for you to meet the folk that you have been reading, commenting, and chatting with. Before we go any further, this is NOT a giant sex orgy but a chance to interact with your new found blogging friends face-to-face.

The opening night festivities are still in the planning stage.(I need to have an actual head count on that before I can proceed and make commitments to the banquet facility. But in the plans are a Masked Ball--expected to be a lavish formal affair)

The 46 Zone Party will be held on the evening of the 22nd at the 46 Zone bar attached to the Ditka Dome(enclosed sports dome facility with an indoor driving range) Typically the bar has a live band on Saturday nights (no cover charge to date) The food and drink costs there are reasonable and one can imbibe for about twenty bucks.

There will be an "after" party on the 21st after the Masked Ball; and a "before" and "after" party on the 22nd in the hospitality suite at the hotel to continue on with the festivities. These parties will have food and alcohol/soft beverages and will be bought in bottle form with appetizer platters from local stores. The bar in the hospitality suite would be a serve yourself type of set-up.

The hotel is new and nicely furnished. Complimentary breakfasts are included with the room; the hotel has a pool, workout facility, complimentary wi-fi service, in-room coffee makers, mini refrigerators, iron & ironing board, and laptrays to support your laptops. There is a complimentary coffee bar located off the lobby area which is available 24 hours for a selection of coffees, teas, and hot chocolate. Hotel rates are reasonable and information can be found at Convention Information Pictures of the hotel and its rooms are also available for you to see.

In the works is a photo session opportunity as well as some classes/demos.

If you have not already done so, you are also invited to join bloggers of this friendly site The group was designed to address the technical aspects of blogging, but has metamorphosized into something much more--a "family" of bloggers...many of who will be attending the upcoming Convention.

Thank you for your time and I hope to meet you in person.

Where were you when you found out? I was in my kitchen, watching the TODAY show, making french toast for the kids. I remember Katie Couric announcing there had been a plane accident.............

What did you do? Kept my kids home from school. I was scared to death. I thought "first NYC, then probably Chicago (next largest city)" ........ I called EVERYONE I knew and, told them I loved them. I even called enemies to make peace.

Has it impacted you in any way? Yes it has. I take nothing for granted.

I think this was on a Tuesday wasnt it ? Because of the time zone diffrences it was around 6:30 a.m. and i was getting ready for work that day, when i went to work the manager brought in the tv for the staff since it was an all day brodcasting for those who had loved ones in that area.

What did i do ? There was nothing i could have done, NYC was totally across the states from Washington State, my heart did go out to the people, yet i continued on my day, yet never knew on that day how it would have affected me and loved ones around me so many years later to this day.

Where were you when you found out?
.... At work in company's board room with new boss and his team.

What did you do?
.... Turned TV on in the board room and watched for about 15 minutes. Went into boss's ofice and told him it looked we had been attacked and that he needed to decide how to lead/communicate to the organization. p.s. He shook his head and said 'yeah right' (He was an ass and got fired a year later)
.... Had them turn the TV projector on in company conference room (6 foot by 6 foot). Talked to my subordinates. Told them to tell their folks they could go home or stay. Also asked for them to account for each person that worked for them so we could figure out if we had anyone there.

Has it impacted you in any way?
Surprisingly no. Didn't know anyone personally but have friends that did.

Please don't ever forget.
Nope not going to forget.

Michael, I hope your boss regrets his poor decision. What a jerk.

I was on a flight to St Louis. It's changed me in a profound way that's hard to describe here...certainly made me more patriotic.

Hi Elgin_m_4_3sum you are very brave. I would have been so scared to fly immediately after that.

I heard a LOT of people rented cars to get back home. Considering no one knew when the FAA would allow flights again, it was the only option for some.

Thankfully, I was at home. My daughter was home sick...the only day she ever missed of school due to illness. I knew the world wasn't right when she woke that morning. I just didn't know to what magnitude it would become before the day ended.

I fly to NYC frequently on business. The emptiness as I search for those towers on the horizon will be forever gut-wrenching.
