Good Night Peter

THE icon himself is gone...........

He came in my home for every presidential election. Stayed up no matter how late. He always had a smile on his face.

I even remember being young when the hostages in Iran were being released. He explained it all......

Every life changing moment in our history, he was here with me.

I just watched the space shuttle land and teared up because..... I wont hear Peter Jennings talk about it tonight.

We as americans now (according to the news) have big plans hoping that - because he died of cancer? People will now stop smoking.

I heard something last night "The American Cancer Society can only do so much but when an icon dies like that, it will have a far greater affect......"

We're they serious?

Ok, all those smokers out there? Raise your hand if you're stopping because of Peter's passing. Anyone? Anyone?

I was a smoker but quit cold turkey 4 yrs ago. I just wanted to grow old without black lungs.

...... enough rambling.

You'll be missed Peter, thank you for all you did..... rest in peace.

I was as shocked as you are. He was so constant in my life, I almost forgot to notice him sometimes.

I was a smoker until 4/1/2004, when I quit with the help of the patch. I hope this helps others quit the habit... but I'm a firm believer in people making their own decisions.

TT

He was my favorite anchorman. He will be missed.

As for smoking: I lost my father to smoking when he was in his early 40s. I know all about that.
