I had to kill a man today.

I had to kill a man today. I still dont know how I feel about it. It is amazing, how your life can change in an instant. I was sitting here, at my computer, just like I am now. I saw movement, out the corner of my eye. Through my window, I see a man pulling my lawnmower out of my gate. It seems so trivial now, a lawnmower, I killed a man, over a lawn mower.

I got up from my chair and rushed outside, to see this man loading my lawnmower onto his truck. I almost missed it, as I ducked, another man misses my head by inches, swinging with MY shovel. At this time, years of training and rage surface. Why is this happening, what brought this about, why do we live in a society, where I am not safe in my own damn yard?! I turn to hurt this man, not defend myself, but truly, just to hurt him. There, in his hand, is a gun. The barrel is pointed at my face. I am not afraid, I am not excited, I am enraged. He pulls the trigger 3 times, and nothing happens. In his haste he has forgotten to cock it. I reach forward, and punch him in the throat. As he gasps for air , I wrest the gun from his grip, and cock it. I shoot him in the right thigh. I turn my attention to the man at the truck, he is running for the cab, instinct, reflex, I dont know which, I fire three times. I hit him three times, and he falls to the ground. I turn again, and the other guy is crawling towards me, I kick him in the ribs, place one of his hands over the other, and shoot him in both hands simultaneously. Chris walks outside at this time, and is appalled by what he sees. I hand him the shovel, and tell him if he moves beat him.

I approach the man beside the truck. I can see his whole body shivering. There is a pool of bluish black liquid, pooling beneath him. Biology 3 from highschool, tells me I have hit him in the heart. In a spot, where his heart was collecting all the blood from his body. He will be dead in minutes. He is awake and mumbling very faintly..." I dont want to die...", and an icy knot forms in the center of my chest. I just killed a man over a lawn mower. I look up, and the knot is gone, I yell to Chris to call 911. I stand, give him one last glance, as I see the spark which we interpret as life, or a soul, wither and die in him. " I hope you rot in hell." those are my parting words to him. I felt guilty, all life is precious. I abhor unnecessary killing, even when I hunt, you hunt only what is needed. I turn to Chris, he is still looking at me in awe.

I walk up to the other man, and point the gun at his head. You only kill when needed, was my life worth saving? "What are you doing?!!!" Chris, I love him, naive little shit. I have to protect him. " He knows where we live, when he gets out he will come back." I know this now, -Chris " Just let the police handle it!" -me "My friend, it sounds like a line to a movie, but I know what must be done. Dead men dont seek revenge!" As he begins to protest I fire, one single shot, and spatter us both in blood. He stands there with a look on his face like all these years he's been living with bigfoot. And today, he noticed the footprint.

I walk back to the cab of the truck, inside on the seat, is a sawed off shotgun, and three donation cans. The kind with a soldiers picture on the front, and information on what the money will be used for. Did I know the gun was there? No. Like I said earlier, instinct, reflex, too many movies, I dunno. I know I killed a man today.

I hear the approaching sirens.......... "WEEHOOO WEEHOOO WEEHOOO"........................................

..........................................WEEHOOO ...... deetdeetdeet deet deetdeet.......... rustling........ fumbling........... click......... tv sounds....." your tropical update next, after your local on the 8's. The Weather channel...." "ummmph................. hell ova dream."

Oh my gosh! Well I'm glad its just a dream, at least I hope that is all it is/was. You don't have a tendency for your dreams to come true do you? *worried look* If so, maybe you need to just sell your lawnmower and shovel right now?

Welcome to the potential hell that New Orleans can become....
Looters are everywhere. They are contractors, volunteers, your neighbor. It's kinda scary. Drug dealers vying for territory. Gang rivelry. Wild packs of dogs. Speeders. I have a gun. I know how to shoot. And I will.

Too expensive, with the afternoon showers we get almost daily! My grass has to be cut every 4 days!
