Nightguy_1961 wrote an hilarious blog about the folks he works with - go read it - worth every second. He started me thinking about my staff and...................
I am the executive director of a non-profit (and I do mean NON profit) and run a series of programs that serve the homeless. I have 7 management staff and about 40 other folks (those who are largely responsible for making things work)
Program Director #1 is a person who applied for my job and didn’t get it: She who’s butt is still frosted: this woman is the most melodramatic person I have ever met. Everything is a crisis and of course she is, according to her, the single most put upon person in the agency. BUT ‒ she’s damn good at what she does so i can't fire her dramatic self serving ass. grrrr
Program Director #2: She who needs no supervision: this woman is amazing, talented and will not acknowledge the word “no” ‒ even if it’s shouted, written down and proffered in triplicate, or served by the county constable. Excellent at her job and someone I would trust with my life but do NOT bother her with rules and regulations.
The other two PDs are” Those who do their jobs: and I say amen to that.
The Chief Financial Officer: She who works magic: is a woman who when there is no money for payroll, meets payroll; when asked for the budget figure for maintenance, provides me with a three page spreadsheet noting outstanding issues (hey, all I wanted to know was is it 5K or 10K), expenses to date and an annualized projected cost. She has made me laugh hard enough to pee my pants, and has kept the buzzards from the door for years.
The Facilities Manager: shudders or He who is bipolar: ‘nuf said
So Night ‒ I think I have more eagles than turkeys but I’d put my turkeys up against yours any day. Still, You don’t have to like who you work with, do you? You just have to work with them. And then, you get to leave and go home to your real life ‒ thank the sweet goddess.
You cannot conceive the many without the one.
