it's the little things.........that tickle me

i live in a typical suburban neighborhood. on my street, except for Dick who lives across the street, i am the oldest person. my tenants are young and the husband is a physicist, she's a stay at home who spins her own wool. let's call him leo.

Leo is 24 but when i met him 2 years ago i assumed he was early 30's. leo belongs to a group called the Society for Creative Anachronisms. i have no idea what that means. the rest of the street is pretty much younger parents with kids - pretty cross cultural and i would say the majority are liberal but worried. about 15 minutes ago Leo and his friend who is from Donegal and is about 4'11 and looks like a leprechaun (said with love as i am also irish) appeared on the front lawn.

dressed in full leather renaissance gear with helmets, tights, swords and shield, they are now engaged in sword fighting whilst cries of huzzah and beware liege your honor is on the line ring out through the deepening dusk.

cars are slowing down. the lights went off next door but i can see Michael peeking out the window if i look very carefully. my son and his friends are gathered at the living room windows taking turns watching and then falling back and rolling on the floor.

the little girls across the street are crying now cause they figured it was halloween and their mama forgot to tell them. the dog is going nuts.

me, i'm just sitting here smiling. in the midst of this quiet and rather pleasant neighborhood, the knights are doing battle and i am truly enjoying the attendant drama.

a little creative anachronism at work.

gotta love it

How cool is that!!!!!

My entertainment consists of the cat that adopted us (we named him Shithead! ) walking up to the fence behind us where there are 3 chocolate labs desperately trying to get at him for a midnight snack!!! Your entertainment sounds much cooler!!! -B

What fun! I probably would have whipped out my camera...

You might ask your friends if they go to the Fairs. I've always thought that they would be really fun and interesting but I have never been to one. If just a couple of men role playing for fun cracked the kids up, a whole city of shops in tents and period activities ought to really amuse them.

Not all who wander are lost.

I love it! I would have adored being there for that...and I was right you are of Celtic descent. I love with my intuitive sense of someone is proven right. Way cool!

Yup...this juiciness is from me....
