happy Mother's Day DAD

for all the fathers who nurture and protect
for all the fathers who stepped up and took over
for all the fathers who are caregivers

happy Mother's Day

i know some of you - my brother, my Sir

so thank you for:
*going back to the store THREE times to get the right tampons
*for cooking a favorite meal (even though the kitchen became a demolition zone)
*for sitting up while they were sick, touching gently, cleaning, soothing
*for making up silly songs to help them sleep
*for building memories they will hold dear forever like the igloo, the christmas branch, the midnight walks under a full moon, the long rides filled with songs and laughter, being a room dad, washing a favorite shirt at 2AM so they can have it for tomorrow, for being there when they get home from school with a snack and smiling through the stories even though you will have to stay up late to finish that report, for hearing the unspoken words, for pushing them to become, for holding them when they fail and for tears never seen but often wept

thank you for being a Mom as only a Dad can be

to my Dad -
*thanks for taking me fishing at dawn
*crying with me while we watched Old Yeller
*stopping by my first day home with my son and laughing with delight when he peed all over your suit
*for the letters you wrote to me, the words you said that made me know your love was deep and abiding
*for leaves raked, then raked again after we jumped in them
*for walking down that hill everyday and coming in the back door and making our family feel whole and safe
*for meeting every single friend i ever had
*for jokes so bad we couldn't stop laughing
*for scary stories and showing me the mysteries in life
*for crying unabashedly when you left me at college
*for calling at just the right moment, time and time again - because i just needed to know someone loved ME

so Happy Mother's Day to Dads everywhere who do what must be done, with compassion and abiding love

now, if you could just put the seat down......

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

Very valid points, Easy. My Father is dead. He died in November last year and Mom died in March. So, all I have is memories now. Thank you for bringing back some of those good memories.
