doing a Maynard G. Krebbs.......................WORK

tomorrow i start back to work - been off for two weeks with a compressed nerve - and managed some stuff from home via PC and phone but.......

my head is already spinning with all that i need to do, reschedule, check out, review and on top of all that - damned if i don't have an early meeting with the Mayor of our fine city.

i actually love working and find that when i don't, i get a little antsy. i like the people and the stimulation and the pace. but i found after two weeks of not being allowed to move much at all, that i also have an alarming propensity for being a slug

i have said that an unexamined life is not for me but here, in the midst of doing not a damn thing, i discovered a caveat. you just don't/shouldn't/mustn't examine this closely - not all the time - hell, i drove myself crazy and nearly lost the most singularly significant person in my life doing it

going to be a tough week - why am i so thrilled at the prospect??

so, MaynardG - back off - good work is not only a blessing, for me it is part of who i am and tomorrow at 6:00 AM - i will hit the road for the first time in 2 weeks - butterflies in my stomach i'm so excited

catch you all later in the week - gotta go to WORK

Work is a huge part of me as well.... partly because I used it as an emotional crutch for years... and partly because I too love what I do (at least most of the time.. though it has not been much fun for a while here)

Is it truly right when our work defines who we are though?

I also think the "younger generation" has lost our work ethic.... I see so many young people who have such a cavalier attitude to work and responsibilities in general!

Hope your compressed nerve is better and that you flow right back into your work week!!

i hope it doesn't define me - but it better be some part of me if i have to do it 50 hours a week

my mom made sure we all had a good work ethic - and i agree that a larger % of the younger generation seems to lack that level of committment to their work

I know how you feel. I just went back to work after being off for two weeks due to minor surgery. At first it was nice knowing that I din`t have to go to work for a while. I didn`t even have to think about work. After about a week though I started to get real restless. It was good to go back.

yup - being in pain makes the first couple of days go by - and then you start tapping your fingers - what to do, what to do

Working is the most leading cause into old age.
Inactivity can cause you to go insane and therefore off the edge.
Not over working.
Next in line is sex.
Active sex life has been documented to show longer lives.
Having both and knowing when to give as much as you recieve, that's the question we all have to weigh out.

I hear a note of happiness in your step

I love my work, but it can become exhausting over time, so having time out to holiday and chill out is good too. I'm not worried too much about retirement - I really do have a lot of projects I would like to make happen ....... and I'm going to paraglide until I am physically unable to continue.

Hope you enjoy the return and the sense of achievement. {=}

warm xx
