Slowly Shaping Sexuality

The marble is cold
Yet in this form is contained
The heat of passion

The colour is pale
Yet locked within is the ghost
Of lovers’ desire

The surface is firm
But carefully shaped contours
Seal experience

The statue is still
Yet it conveys to my mind

Could a photograph
Capture such depth of feeling
Shaped in countless hours?

I simply love fine sculpture of the human form, whether classical greek, renaissance Florentine or this beautiful piece by Rodin. It embraces a paradox of the very hardness of stone capturing yielding flesh through curve, form and posture. And you can run your hands over sculpture, adding to your experience of it.

I really like this picture and wanted to share it with you.

Shame it’s only a pic.

Your precious words unlock desire from poem and stone for passion's fire. Darling Angel, I thank you.

beautiful words and beautiful sculpture. The two bodies linked together in lust and sensuality. The complete disregard of all who pass by and witness their passion for one another.

Isn't it lovely, tiller? Your comment captures that sensuality sculpture can have, especially Rodin. Thanks.

The stone unhewn and cold Becomes a living mould, The more the marble wastes The more the statue grows.

Very sensual sculpture captured beautifully within your poetry, Tabs x

Thank you caress, it's in the Rodin Museum in Paris. Now there's a place for a weekend break! Paris is such a wonderful city that still echoes "la belle epoch" and so, so romantic!
