Santa is Scary - Official

A British Government education website has warned that children are to be protected from Santa Claus. Advice to teachers included the following:

“For very young children Father Christmas can be terrifying, and if you are planning a visit from Santa, you’ll need to make sure that fearful children are near an exit.”

“Trips to the pantomime can cause alarm, so the same planning applies.”

“Many children dislike dark and crowded rooms, so be sensitive to this if you are planning atmospheric lighting.”

“Sometimes parties and organised games just reinforce differences and inequalities. The last thing you want is for children to get anxious or upset because they feel they have underperformed, or not been successful.”

When challenged about it the Department for Education denied that they put it on their website. So who put it there? One of Santa’s naughty elves perhaps? Hmmmm - I wonder!

Have a politically correct Christmas one and all.

OMG! Someone’s coming down the chimney!

Fortunately, mizzkitka, most brits don't respond well to political correctness. The pantomime is such a great institution of the British Christmas it would take more than a few sanctimonious fools to endanger it.

And in fairness, the Department for Education did remove this advice from their website, once the outcry made them look stupid.

The pantomime, mizzkitka, is safe!

"Oh no it isn't!"

"Oh yes it is!"

"Look behind you!"

"You don't think I'm going to fall for that one, boys and girls...."

I mean, where else in the world of theatre would you get such wonderful lines?

I'm sorry coffee ..... I suppose all the primary teachers I know are truly sensitive to the needs of their children and don't need officials to tell them. I guess that's the point, but as with Kat's comment I do see your point.

Thanks for that tiller. I'm a total sucker for Dr Seuss

And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?
"It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
"It came without packages, boxes or bags!"
And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought something he hadn't before!
"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store.
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"

Merry Christmas!

Thanks Kat. These things do happen but I guess people don't need to be told what's commonsense.
