Hastings Beach

Alone on the beach
My boots making shingle talk
A cold north wind blows

A gentle tide laps
A steady rhythm of life
Beyond solitude

Beyond sun’s last rays
Fishing boats beached in twilight
My sole companions

Reflecting on things
What was and what might have been
The half-light I share

Worn and broken cliffs
Embracing the quaint old town
And dark against sky

The shingle talking
Is my sole conversation
Somehow with my thoughts

This is the moment
I must stand at the crossroads
A gull soars above

As gentle tide laps
A steady rhythm of life
Beyond solitude

Wow, what evocative writing, all the best for 2006 warm, and remember we have the power within us to change anything we want in order to gain satisfaction and happiness - although not always easy

Thank you tiller. There are times and there are places to best reflect, and sometimes they come together and experience becomes rich and layered. This is a strange time of year - like holding a mirror up to A Midsummer Night's Dream, when fun, festivity and mystery go hand in hand.

Thank you darling angel. Alone on a cold beach created such words. What words would be woven from being together in a desert? I can wonder, and dream and wait.....

i love the beach and the sunsets are so beautiful.
there are quiet times when the water seems to be there
for no other reason than to remind me to heal yet again...

be gentle with yourself at the crossroads...
appreciating your heart {=}

Just a little food for thought.............
If you really want to be happy, nobody can stop you...

Thanks Kat. I read caressmewell's post and commented. Mmmmmm! A warm tropical beach - not some cold shingle on the edge of the English Channel. I find that although we celebrate this season, because the days are short and the weather cold the season is also one that can so easily lead to reflection. My Scandinavian friends have all got that kind of quality of thoughtfulness and I've often thought it's because of those long cold dark winters.

Maybe I ought to write something jolly - with pina coladas and sand between the toes. I think I'll take caress up on her offer!

Simply beautiful, thinking of the crisp wind during the winter breeze while walking along the beach... absolutely beautiful.

Thank you caress. Boxing Day twilight. I had been flying, had visited a friend and had some moments to think before going back to town. Quite a lot on my mind.
