Celebrity, Flattery and Abandoning Principles (I'm Only Human!)

Now I've always been sceptical about this whole celebrity thing. I've always maintained that the phenomenon of celebrity is all about the talentless being adored by the mindless.

All of a sudden I've been invited to be part of a celebrity's autobiography. I mean the personal touch, visit, mobile number and so on.

So I find myself going "whoopeeee!!!!"

Isn't that shameful? A little flattery and I'm anyone's!

Oh, sweet darlin’, you have called my bluff, and I have to come clean! I have known this woman since she was about eleven, and in all honesty if anyone deserves fame and fortune she does. Some children might be born with a silver spoon in their mouth, this young lady had a second hand polystyrene one, with challenges beyond most people’s experiences. It has been her streetwise wit, her sense of humour, her generous spirit and her humanity that turned a lucky break, that others have had and lost, into something substantial and ongoing. Whenever we meet she always gives a hug and a kiss, and last time (in that pub by the Thames) her baby had to have a h&k too. She’s slowly become more polished ‒ London is a pretty sophisticated city ‒ and grown enormously. Please share a genuine admiration for such a good and genuine soul.

I just love the irony and contradiction that life throws at us, and the more fixed our attitudes become, it seems the more they stand to be challenged, and you’ve put me ‘well straight’ on that. Perhaps I was a bit rouĂ© for putting it the way I did. Naughty me! warm xx

And then when you get there, you'll see that all those talentless people are really just trying to make a living. They work hard at what they do. Just like you and I. No different really. Fame is really not as glamorous as the common people make it seem. It is Human nature to want to idolize the one's we see every day. The one's we see everyday of course are the ones plastered on TV and movie screen and in the news. They didn't choose what channel we watch or movie we saw, we did. So when you are there, trying to determine if you've sold yourself out to your principles, just remember, each one of them probably wishes they could go home and disapear for a while to the quiet confines of normalacy for a day and be just like you. To them, you are a celebrity.
