Acknowledging the Dreamer

Acknowledging the Dreamer

redswallow777 wrote a comment in response to my post Sex or Love? which brought me up short:

We have Polly the adventurous, free spirit of a woman, . . . and Jeanne the practical, middle of the road woman and now Midge. Well, I think I am seeing her as the young of heart dreamer of the three.

Sorry, RedBird Midge is too frightened to be a dreamer; she is just a little git (Oz slang for objectionable nonentity) who clings onto things she imagines might protect her. That isn’t dreaming; it’s being stuck. But you did point to something important.

Dreamers have a special place in my life . . . they are the one's who can often help me out by suggesting new ways of looking at the world. Sometimes we can get to thinking they are just a pain in the arse but I think they have valuable role to play.

So yes, thank you for reminding me: I do have a dreamer. My dreamer is my seeker, my writer, my painter, my traveller. My dreamer is the Waggy part of Waggypolly (with Polly being the earthy part). She helps me write my blog and, more and more as I begin to let go of my professional life, she will help me shape my future.

Thank you for the aspiration towards integration, RedBird. It is a good way to be starting the new year!

This is Polly, still Wagging

Polly...I reread your post Sex or Love. And then reread this one. I am the dreamer in many ways, but I see my "Midge" getting in the way. I don't think I saw Midge as clearly in your first post, but seeing that the "dreamer" is stuck - rang a bell for me. You are right that aspiration towards integration would be a good way to start the new year!

What a lovely way to end my day. A day of cool rain that washed away some of the sins that we keep thrusting on the green earth. A dream of prefection, of passion and pleasure. I certainly will make the blog of WaggyPolly and anxiously await future musings from her. Been many years since I last visited Singapore.....wonder how it has changed....

Well, Polly, I missed the mark but I am glad it spurred some further reflection. I knew that dreamer and seaker was there; I just didn't have her name.
