SHINY!

Okay, for those of you normal people out there that have problems understanding the geek mentality, here's a perfect explanation of shiny.

Go to Google. Type in Get Perpendicular.

Now, after seeing that, a geek would say: Must ... buy ... shiny ... new ... hard ... drive ...

And the reason they would say it like that is because they're trying desperately not to have a panic attack about their need for the new hard drive.

Where as a normal person would say: Oh, a bigger hard drive. Do I really need to spend my money on that right now?

I mean, yeah, when you say it that way, it takes all of the fun out of it. But when you look at it as must have new technology that you don't know how you ever lived without...

So that's shiny.

I may have to. Thanks for the tip.

I just finally got some shiny I ordered ... only it arrived broken. Packaged well, but obviously a factory defect. Now I have to send it back and wait longer for the replacement. Good shiny is so ellusive!

you shoulda seen me when I lived in Japan... Oi...

forgive my absence... I've been in Depression Hell---population 1... me, myself and my stupid thoughts...

Japan, land of the Shiney! I'd probably have a heart attack. Or at the least an empty wallet.

And bummer about the depression. Been to that hell a few times myself. Did you run across the collection of volleyballs with faces painted on them? After being carelessly discarded Wilson started a cult there.

no - no shiny - save money for new "chiny" car - can you say "road-trip" !

Oh - OK - enjoy - may your shiny arrive safely and serve you well.

I just wish the car I wanted actually existed. Is it too much to ask that Toyota, a great maker of hybrid vehicles, makes a hybrid version of the Matrix? (Ideally I'd prefer a hybrid Pontiac Vibe, but the Matrix is almost the same.)

And now I hear that Europe's famous smart cars might start jumping across the pond. But can I wait that long to get one?

I might have to settle for the Toyota Prius.

I'm trying to save up money though. Honest.
