My First AFF Funeral

I went to my first AdultFriendFinder funeral service last Friday night. It was for the husband of a couple who I met through this site, ones whom I've known for two years.

He was only 56 years old.

He was a smoker. He seldom went to see his physician, even after unexplicably fainting one night while we were all at a bar together.

For those of you who smoke, and especially those of you who smoke and also avoid seeing a doctor regularly, consider this:

Imagine one day on a sunny Sunday afternoon, a day that you've spent doing some of your favorite leisure activities with your spouse or partner, things like reading, gardening, or riding your bicycle, or whatever, and then you go home, ready to prepare and enjoy a nice home-cooked meal. Then you feel like you perhaps may have some gas pain, so you excuse yourself and head to the bathroom. It's there that you still can't decide what's bothering you, so you leave the bathroom and go back to the kitchen, but it's too late. You suddenly collapse and die from cardiac arrest, right in front of your spouse or partner. Your spouse or partner tries to revive you with CPR, but you've already passed, nearly a full 20 years prior to what's supposed to be the regular life expectancy here in the United States.

The only clues that are later determined to be your cause of death are heart disease and hypertension.

My husband is 51 he does not smoke but he has high blood pressure. I cannot get him to go get a check up for shit. He wont listen to me at all. So I tell him that hes going to wish he had went. He is at the age now where its time for prostate exams and having his colon checked to make sure he don't have any related cancers. But men are stubborn like that.

That is sad that people don't take care of themselves like they should. I hate that your friend died. I am also sad for his wife.

My sympathy goes to you and his family.

I am the real deal! "Come Get Me!!!"

vengeur....I'm so sorry about your friend. You have my sympathy. How is his wife holding up?

I've talked to her, and although she really misses him, she seems like she's coping well, little by little, bit by bit.
