Virtue or Vice?

I attended a seminar a few years ago and one of the topics covered was how to present yourself in a positive light. I have tried a few times to take the vices I possess and turn them into virtues....such as impatience. I am very impatient at times. One of my favorite sayings is that instant gratification is not fast enough. So how do I put a positive spin on that? I get things done, I am not a procrastinator at all. I also have the ability to motivate other people around me (just ask my kids)! I am extremely skeptical. It is very hard for me to take what anyone says at face value. I think that comes from a strict religious background and seeing all the hypocrisy that come with that. The positive side of that is I always research my sources and make sure I get to the bottom line. I am rarely fooled by someone, I usually don't give them the chance. I am a dreamer...always thinking of new things to do, or new ways to do old things...I am not sure if this is a vice or not. The reason it could be is because I need to be rooted in reality a little more. In my profession, you have to be very rooted in reality, nothing more real than ladies in labor. I love my job, but sometimes wish I had more creative outlets in my life...I guess that is where the dreaming comes in. Being honest with myself is very important to me..I think sometimes I am even too hard on myself...I set pretty high standards and try to live up to them. I also expect the people around me to live up to my standards...that is definately a vice. You can't expect other people to conform to your thinking, but I just expect the best they can do. Anyway...enough rambling..I'm going to bed, it was a long night.

If the only tool you have is a hammer... you tend to see every problem as a nail....

But it sounds to me like you have several tools in your box, and you've learned how to use some of them in more than one way.

To see the world in a grain of sand,
and Heaven in a wildflower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in an hour.
