BLOOD

OK… Would someone please tell me what the heck Emo is? Is it some kind of Goth thing? And would someone please tell me what the hell Goth is anyway? Am I just getting old? Why are all the pictures starting to have these women with their heads down and their eyes looking up and they look half dead or drugged. Is that sexy?

I just don’t get it. Now, I am a man and I like sucking. But blood? Nope. Nope. Nope.

You missed... (Unless you'r the woman in th epicture. That's my one exception)

Don’t get me wrong, I have done and seen a lot of things in my short 30 years.

I have swam across the Pacific, hiked the English Channel, been dolphin swimming in the Himalayas. I went spelunking in the Amazon, Easter egg hunting in the Artic and bike riding in the Sahara.

But this is just freaky. Why would anyone walk around wanting to be pretend dead? I mean, for eternity backwards from the day you were born you don’t exist and in 60 short years you are gonna be dead for eternity again right? So why pretend in the few short years you have to be something you are gonna be for pretty damn close to 100% of your life anyway?

Or am I missing the boat on this whole Goth scene? Maybe I am just sleepy. I just don’t see the fascination with people that look like a bad Munsters episode. Herman Munster on crack if ya ask me.

Pfffffftttttttttttttt

I am going back to bed. Don’t wake me up damnit!

I was in high school when the movement came through the U.S. in the early 80's. Back then it was called "punk"...think the Sex pistols for diehards, Billy Idol for wannabe's. "Emo" was/is the term to describe the whole experience from fashion to music. Flash forward 20 years and it's been recycled into "goth." Black from head to toe, leather is prevelent, again. Think Marilyn Manson.

For some it's just an occasional way to play "dress up." For others it's a way of "fitting in." And for some, it's a complete lifestyle.

As for the bloodsucking and "heroin chic" appearance, that's a whole 'nother ballgame. I missed that class, thankfully.

I agree with Sorceror, if done in moderation, like the photo you used with this post, it can be quite sexy at times. What man doesn't love a woman in stiletto's and a leather bustier from time to time?

Its just a way for some to express themselves. If they do it right, some chicks look damn hot. Hell even some men do. Like The Crow with Brandon Lee.. damn that was just WOW in my book.

Look at this way. Some people don't like blue shirts. So when they see someone wear a blue shirt they think to themselves, 'what the fuck is that dude thinking wearing something so ugly'..
or how about.. tattoos. Some think its repulsive to see the skin marked with art. And we all know tattoos are a expression of what we like, or they tell a story.

So I guess Goth is just another form of expression. The only reason its looked down at or not understood, is cause its a deathly appearance and very noticable.

Goth/Emo is a way for some people to be different from one group of people by dressing exactly like another group of people. Kinda like blacksheep. In fact, EXACTLY like that, come to think of it.

Your human life span expectancy really sucks, by the way. According to you I've got about eight years left. Bummer. And I was just beginning to get the hang of it.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

It's all good, one of my daughters went thru that stage for a while. it caused my Ex wife to have fits and she came to live with me. I equated it back to my long hair, tie dye shirt and bleach stained jeans days of my youth. I figured if that was the worst thing she did, I was way ahead in the game. She grew out of it, and actually looked pretty nice when she got all dressed up in her garb. I hope I manage to live a lot longer than what you figure is a normal life span. I wanna die at 110 years old, shot dead in someone else's bed by a jealous husband....at least that way I'll go out with a smile upon my face. I wish you well down there in Texas, Thanks for the post

Goth and Emo are two different things. My daughter is into Emo, more like Avril Lavine in her Skaterboy phase. Goth is as you more than adequately described. My daughter's thing with Emo is about music, emotional music, hence the shortened version, Emo. Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World, Tegan and Sarah are some of her favorite groups. She wears her pants down low on her hips but they aren't skin tight like many of the young women wear now. She wears mostly tshirts and Van's skateboarding/athletic shoes. She wears little makeup, definitely NOT Goth.

I am in agreement with DT I was in school with a bunch of the goth's and they were interesting to say the least the music was quite weird but those bands played with the bands I liked so i got to hear some of the stuff they were into but the biggest band I remember that was apart of the goth scene was susy and the banshee's and after seeing them I really didnt get it

Now that's funny oldman! See that fucking wireless coffin was a good investment right?

I am one that does not understand the babes and boys in black either. I suppose most will grow out of it once they have to actually find a job and work for rent and food.

Trav ... I don't know a thing about what you're talkin' about man! Why shucks, I just found out there are actually gay cowboys! I was dragged kicking and screaming to "Brokedick Mountain" Monday night! My heroes have always been The Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, The Cisco Kid and Gene Autry. (Well, there was also Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Willie Mays and Sandy Koufax too!) And now my boyhood illusion has been shattered! Apparently, according to Hollywood, all my heroes were doing each other! Now, Trav, these guys in the movie were sheepmen from Wyoming, but it could be that the cattlemen of Texas are a little kinky too! In fact, it could be that the Texas cattlemen are 'Goth Gays'. I mean I'm just supposin' this could be the case. I don't really know for sure! Could you check it out and put up a blog on your findings?!

Trav, it's not just you. I've asked my 15 year old to explain the Emo thing....she can't. She will 'label' some of her classmates as 'emo' and she often uses it in a negative way ... but she couldn't explain it to me so that I could understand what it was supposed to mean.

God, to be in Texas and be so ingorant! How lucky are you?
lol

Emo is short for EMOtional or emoting music.

Sensitive boy band stuff. Gotten a bad , but some is good, better than any pop out there now, for pete's sake.(gave up cursing for Lent)

Then Goth, in my old school opinion, Includes, but is not limited to, these bands:

The Cure
Sisters of Mercy
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Minisrty
Mission UK
Depeche Mode(but only up to the Black Celebration Album)
Bella Morte

And many more I can't remember, but I've got the tapes somewhere.
I was lucky enough to grow up where we had the best radio stations in the world, and I contend that they have made me the superfan(?) I am today.
Oh, and I loved this music when I was in High School(85-89), but I didn't have to dress in black or anything. I did what I wanted.
Punk, new wave, dark wave, industial, hardcore, straightedge, heavy metal, new romantics, mods, rockers, ect.

It's all good.

(Notice how I left out country?)lol .....

LET'S GO METS!!!

Don't know much about Emo, Trav...

Do know, however, how to wake you up in such a way that
you would not concern yourself with much of anything else
happening in the world for a vamp spell or five and you
wouldn't even have to get out of bed... {=}

Just a little food for thought.............
