Watching Others at Play...

Do you ever watch people when you are out? I do. It's part of the A.D.D. Drives me nuts but I can't help it. That is probably why I spend so much time in Starbucks. I can't stand to be alone. Can't stand to not have the white noise of other people. So I sit and watch... and I wonder.

For instance... A couple was just in here sitting in seperate chairs (obviously. They came in together and looked at each other, the man asked her what she wanted and he ordered. Then she turned and went and got them newspapers. They didnt speak, look or interact in anyway other than to sit at the same table as far as they could from one another and read their newspapers. At some appointed time they both folded their papers without speaking and walked out. Now were they living together but out of touch or did they know each other so well words weren't needed.

Another coupel sitting across from me is sitting closely to one another laughing about something on the computer in front of them. She is touching him but he is not touching here. She laughs but he doesnt.

And a couple off to my other side is sitting at MY spot and she is being ignored and he is ignoring her while he does something on his laptop. Are they mad at each other? Is this the way he always treats her?

So many dynamics swirling around us all. So many people reaching out and desiring anothers company.

This older couple is in here all the time. You can tell he delights in her by the way he serves her coffee on a saucer. The care he gives in the way he places it before her. The adoring look that he gives because he knows he is serving her. Ahhhhh that we all had this simple pleasure in our life. The ability to serve another not out of selfishness but selflessness. Giving without expectation and finding satisfaction from it.

Ah oh..... better go.... Some crazy guy just walked in with an attitude and a bandana that doesnt match. And you know me, if I start typing about him I'll start laughing and I can't chance getting kicked out of Starbucks because a barista fight breaks out.
