So There I Was....

Background Music:
Twilight Zone

I needed a haircut really bad today. Really bad. So I went to this place across the street to get it. Once I was done, I went to Target to buy a razor and as I was leaving, I saw a sign for Jasons Deli. Great, no hamburgers tonight.

I ordered my food and sat down. Where I was sitting had me looking into the fading sun. However, I'm a guy and don't like my back to the door. Because of the sun, I had on my sunglasses. Two purposes here. Cut down on the evening sun and I like to people watch.

As I sat there people watching, I noticed a couple on the opposite side of the Deli and they kept looking at me. Then they woudl whisper. As I sat there eating, they got more and more agitated with each other. Finally, he shook his head no but she got up from her table and walked purposefuly across the deli to my table.

Arriving, without introduction, she scooted into the bench across from me and looked at me with piercing eyes for a moment. I was sure I had done something wrong. Run over her favorite cat? No. Stole her newspaper from her yard? No.

Keep in mind, the woman still hasn't spoken to me but her husband looks like he is wanting to come over. Finally she says "Are you going to you sisters for Thanksgiving?"

Completely out of the blue. Now, I normaly can think pretty quick on my feet, but I am so blown away by the womans behavior I have no clue what to say. She was a tiny woman and suddenly I felt as if I was a mouse and she was the cat.

"Excuse me?" I finally stammered.

"Your sister DT, are you going to have Thanksgiving with her?"

It took a second for this to register. OHHHHHHHH

And a big grin spread across my face. "No Ma'am, I am not spending Thanksgiving with my sister DTox."

From this point on, she began to share with me stories I had written in the blogs. How they had made her laugh, made her angry and made her cry. I was deeply moved and continued to mutter thanks and laugh at some of the antics as she revealed them to me. Eventually, she motioned her husband over who finally joined us.

Husband was an even bigger joy to spend some time with. An avid reader of the blogs, he knew all the players and their lives it seems. He knew most everyone and what was going on. The husband struggles with depression and was very honest and forthcoming about his trials and repeatedly thanked me for sharing my worries and pains.

I must say, what started as a very freaky situation turned into an absolute joy. I am still blown away that so many read my rantings and seem to gain so much. It makes some of my emotional rollercoaster bearable to hear that many of you struggle and deal with many of the same things I do. That somehow, I have encouraged you through my written words.

Bloggers, keep in mind there is a quiet majority out there that reads about you, struggles with you and cheers for you even if they never speak. Many of these people may be your biggest fans yet you never hear from them. It is for them that you write as well.

To all of my "lurkers" for lack of a better term, those of you that read but never comment. Thank you. You are just as appreciated as those that comment on here. Sometime, though, if you feel comfortable, just say hi. I won't bother you. Its just nice to know who is out there sometimes.

This couple was amazing and a true joy to be around for the 15-20 minutes we spent together. Thank you two for saying hello and making me feel welcome and appreciated. Your kind words meant the world to me tonight.

Yes Trav...this statemtent you've made is very true..."It makes some of my emotional rollercoaster bearable to hear that
many of you struggle and deal with many of the same things I do.
That somehow, I have encouraged you through my written words".

I get this way right about this time of year...holidays have always been hard for me...and it's a daily struggle. A lot of us do understand Trav. {=}

So did they invite you to spend Thanksgiving with them? How cool you met people and how cool is it that they read your blog. Small world..huh?

~~~ Just me, poppin to say HI! ~~
That's so karmic. WOW..2 days ago you were way down there in the shit...and then out of the blue she/he/whatever puts someone in your path that you have touched. You've got to be feeling really good about that Trav. It's so cool the way the universe works. You are where you're supposed to be - Thank you for sharing yourself so openly. Blessed Be!
I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn
Sexy lady, please take Rod Tender's advice: Target may have good "hamburger" sandwiches, but it is not a good place to get a haircut.
That sounded rathe rinteresting. That has happene dot me a few times, but not becaus eof this website. But becaus eof a website I ran a few years ago. It always felt good to have them come up to me and start talking about the things I wrote. I read avidly and have posted a few times, and some of the things you write I can relate to, becaue I have gone threw them myself. I'm just glad ya decided to jot them down instead of holding them in. Writing can sooth the savage beast within, it is quiet the release.
BANG! POW! BOOM! a study in useless knowledge and sick humor!
Hey there, well this is the only blog of yours I have read (besides one I read about 3 wks ago) So, now I guess I have a lot to catch up on. I think your story was cool but it would have freaked me (especially if I was sitting there w/ my husband...oops!)
Well thank Gawd they didn't threaten legal action for bringing up the encounter in your blog. (Yet.)
BTW, I saw a guy the other day who looked like you, but I felt guilty and steered clear of him cause I didn't have any spare change. (Pokes to your arm.)
Cool encounter D
Hi Trav,
I'm a new lurker to your blog as well and I wanted to know where you hang out so I can stalk you too! I like stalking. I'm good at it.
In fact I was sooo good the judge gave me a special certificate that said I was to stop stalking for a while so everyone else could catch up.
I know the people who read my blog. They're the ones that quickly cross the street and run.
But that's ok. I know where they live now.
Good information! I guess we have a pretty weighty responsibility as bloggers! Let me tell you something I stumbled across just to build upon your post.
The other evening I was "Googling" for Missouri Tiger boxer shorts which I may need to purchase in order to pay off a bet (long story there too, but not pertinent to your post). Well guess what? The third site pulled up just happened to be the blog site of a lady with whom I exchange daily barbs and cat calls. The thing of interest is that this lady has a need to be very discreet with her involvement in a cybersex site, and so I sent her an email letting her know how blog sites can appear when "Google" searches are done if the words used in the "Search" field are also contained in the blog site. So not only are our words and pictures being seen by those who come to this site for common perverted sexual reasons, they are also being viewed by our preachers, priests, rabbis, hairdressers, bankers, mothers, daughters, wifes, husbands, etc.
Now, how does that make everyone feel?
Yipes! I better go shut down my profile until I can falsify it and my mug shot!
Hi Tex maybe you need to use several pairs of shades just remember which ones are the AdultFriendFinder ones and save them for people watching when you in the mood for fun. I will have to look for the depression related blog now but that is an issue that needs more discussion because @ 20% of the population in Western countries are or have used those little mind pills.
Keep Blogging
