No Wonder...

OK...

I was talking to Blondeeeeeee and I suddenly realized I had a raging headache. So I nodded off (sorry) and when I woke up it was still there.

I went downstairs and everything seemed too heavy for my stomach so I pulled out a box of the kids cereal. Captain Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch to be exact. So I am sitting there eating it, grumpy and hating life, barely able to hold my eyes open and I realize it tastes kind of funny.

I get to looking at the box and on the back is a "See the Polar Express movie" advertisement. I am slow but not that slow. OK, yea, I am slow. Slowly the realization comes to me, wasnt that movie out last year?

Don't even ask what the Use by date was!!!!!

So... I finish eating the nasty cereal because I just dont care and I go to get something to drink and that is when it hit me.

I havent had any caffeine since Sunday. I purposefuly stopped drinking any Dr. Pepper or coffee because I am on a lose weight thing. It is time. I had sorta forgotten this causes headaches. Especialy when you are addicted like I am to the crap.

And to think, I just thought I hated everybody naturaly today! Nah.... Its the lack of caffeine!

280lbs today.... Here we go folks.....

I know its a 'girlie' drink, but chamomile tea (no caffeine) will help with the withdraw from caffeine. It tricks the brain & makes the headaches fade. So does natural vanilla & cinnamon. Combine all 3 and you'll feel better...i promise

Might I suggest trying Diet Coke with lime? I HATE diet sodas, but man, that sugar is a killer. Anyway, the diet coke with lime doesn't have that gross aftertaste that a plain diet coke has. I'm not a Dr. Pepper person but my friend swears by the new diet cherry vanilla dr. pepper.

I gave up coffee for Lent one year. (Back when I was somewhat religious and unaware of the fact that I definitely going straight to hell.) The first week I had headaches and just was a cranky biotch.. but then it went away after a few days.

Excedrin has caffeine in it... might help in the meantime while youre going through detox... Get a Brita pitcher and start drinking more water- it helps with the caffeine cravings also.

Hope you feel better soon...and for god's sake, go food shopping and east something produced within this year.

XOXO

A

Don't let these people fool you. Dr. Pepper is really some good stuff. Its the whole rotisserie chickens you have to give up. (well I need too) You can pry my Dr. Pepper from my cold stiff pudgy fingers.

I am not dead yet

Try getting rid of one thing at a time, and give yourself enough time to adjust before you tackle the next thing. Sugar and caffeine are a powerful combination. You might want to switch to a non-caffeinated soda first. Deal with the sugar rush for a while until you get used to the lack of caffeine kick.
Green tea in the morning is a great substitute for coffee. Still a little caffeine to keep away the headaches and dizzyness, and it contains something that helps the brain counteract the negative affects of caffeine. It tastes the best with a fresh slice of lemon.
The South Beach Diet has some great info on maintaining blood sugar levels while losing weight, if you're interested.

Tillerbabe is absolutely correct! Get some green tea pills. I can't stand sugar substitutes so when I diet, I won't drink anything with the sugar substitutes, I take the pills instead. It will give you a burst of energy and studies show that green tea helps boost the metabolism. A cup of green tea a day is supposed to help you lose 5 lbs. a month without changing your diet.

Another thing - sugar substitutes all have their own side affects. Nutra sweet slows down the thyroid, making your metabolism slow down. Aspartame causes cancer in rats - so you should definately stay away from that one (JUST KIDDING), and the latest Splenda is shown to cause in some cases water around the brain and also enlarges the thyroid and causes the metablolism to slow down. In other words, we're just fucked.

Sorry to be such a bummer, but somehow all these things just get stuck in my head.

I always give up the caffeine when I diet too. Most days, I live off of 2 or 3 of the cold starbucks bottled frappuccino's and a very small meal - and I still gain weight. So when I diet, that's the first thing to go - the caffeine, replaced with some low calorie balanced meals (not low fat) and a cheat day. I have to have my cheat day or a cheat item a day (like one or two cookies in the middle of the night) it keeps me on the diet longer and I'm more succesful that way. I can go on and on about dieting, but I won't.

Good Luck!!!

Stay just the way you are. It's good to know there's one person who is heavier than me.

I am very proud of you, but you are sure to get headaches with such a sudden halt in the caffeine. When you start with a really bad one, drink about 4 oz of a coke and it will help. Yes, I KNOW it is caffeine but it will help with the "weaning" process.

Don't you know there are those of us though that LOVE the "extra padding"?

Oh, no wonder Spot is malnourished. 280? Cripes, at 6'0" my belt feels too tight if I start pushing 175. The secret ingredients: Buffalo Wings and Gin. (And a Coke for breakfast.) They do a body good!

You may want to consult your physician before undertaking this diet. Side effects may include dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, nose bleeds, abnormal menstrual cramping.... Ahh. You know the routine.
