Ladies of Strength and Courage....

Background Music:
Who I Am! Jessica Andrews

As I sat at dinner tonight with family a song came on the jukebox. Yes, we still have those in Texas. I had a double grease burger with some bread. Man, it was good. However, as I sat there, Jessica Andrews song “Who I Am” came on. I come from a family of very talented musicians and it was sort of funny, as soon as this song came on and hit the chorus, eyes closed on all of them from young kid to 50’s and they begin to sing.

If I live to be a hundred
And never see the seven wonders
That'll be alright
If I don't make it to the big leagues
If I never win a Grammy
I'm gonna be just fine
'Cause I know exactly who I am

So when I make big mistake
When I fall flat on my face
I know I'll be alright
Should my tender heart be broken
I will cry those teardrops knowin'
I will be just fine
'Cause nothin' changes who I am

I'm a saint and I'm a sinner
I'm a loser, I'm a winner
I'm am steady and unstable
I am young but I'm able

I am Rosemary's granddaughter
The spitting image of my father
And when the day is done
My momma's still my biggest fan
Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy
But I've got friends who love me
And they know just where I stand
It's all a part of me
And that's who I am

I was surrounded by four beautiful ladies, singing and reminding themselves THEY were what is important. Not the definitions of others. Not how they see themselves in the eye of a man or of a boss or of friends, but as THEY saw themselves. There is nothing more empowering than a strong woman. I was blown away and humbled, tears welled up in my heart, my throat closed and I was in awe.

To each of you lovely ladies on here. Read these words. Who defines you?

Who defines me? such a hard question....I think for the longest time I was defined by my family, then the men in my life. There have been periods in my life, small periods where I defined those months or those years. Today I am currently trying to figure it all out. Who I am...I need to define myself and decide for myself rather than having another do it for me.

I have always defined who I am by what I have been doing. I don't know any other way to define myself. If I tried seperating myself from my job, I would have a long hard journey and I just don't have the stamina or strength to go down that path.

Everyone I have come in contact with has played a part in defining me. Friends, family, business associates, those I've helped through volunteer work.

There's a little of each of them inside me, and that's "who I am."

I love that song T. Great post. (smooch)

I am a friend, a lover, a fiancee, a daughter, a sister, an employee, a co-worker and oh so many other things. But ultimately I define myself with one word: ME.

That's the important one, you know.
