A show of support with silence is fine... but how bout sending cash... dry foods... clothing...items for children (they have no toys) women are without tampons babies without diapers. For those of us that are right here in Houston and the other areas that are trying to find our equalibrium and safely host these refuges we truely need help. These people came to our city for the most part with just what they could carry on their backs, and that usually consisted of clothing that had spent several days in what has been discribed as worse then sewer water. So for those of you that have it to give please do so... for those of you that pray please do so... and for those of you that want to join in a time of silence...wonderful... please remember as you are watching the news broadcasts and it seems that 99.9 % of the people you are seeing don't appear to be trying to do much for themselves... that these people already came from severe poverty and even that was taken away from them. They had no way to evacuate to start with and now have been further displaced... Okay.. Sally stands down... please forgive this frustrating babble... guess I used TT's blog to get shit off of my chest...

I have to say I agree with Sally on one major thing....everyone should donate to the Red Cross or Salvation Army. Here in Vegas they are constantly telling us that more than anything money is needed to help coordinate storage, transport, and help for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Here is a thought, if everyone on this site (who is real) donated money to the effort, think how much money could be raised for those whose lives have been ripped apart.

Unfortunately this disaster is gonna be a long time in getting fixed and things will probably look worse before they look better. We need to remember not to forget these people in a few months when it isn't front page news and under 24 hour news scrutiny and something new pushes the devastation from Katrina into the background.

Prayers and thoughts are all well and good but we need to give them something more tangible.

Just my two cents. Sorry to rant.
