the importance of being earnest...

Some quotes are worth remembering...

The idea came to me from _Safira and her post on movie quotes.

These come from an Oscar Wilde play which was beautifully brought to the screen a few years ago.

Judi Dench plays Lady Bracknell...
Lady Bracknell: Come on, Gwendolyn, we have already missed five, if not six trains! To miss any more might expose us to comments on the platform.

In her scene with Colin Firth playing Jack...

Lady Bracknell: To lose one parent, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune. To lose both looks like carelessness.

But my very favorite is the one she adds right afterwards...

I give you a week to produce at least one parent...

and a small addendum from the end titles... Rupert Everett and Colin Firth as Alby and Jack...
Jack: Algy, you're always talking nonsense.
Algy: It's better than listening to it.

They are great quotes!

I just watched 'The Longest Yard' with Adam Sandler, it was soooo funny! One of my favorite quotes from that was after they had won the football game the character Punky says: "We win! Group hug in the shower tonight!... or not. Or not." - it is based in a prison , i laughed so much during that film !!

I just watched a cute little movie on the Disney Channel about a girl who was a figure skater. She wanted to go to this school and practice with a GREAT RUSSIAN TEACHER. The problem? Her parents didn't have the money for the tuition to go to this private school and they don't provide scholarship for figure skaters. So, the Teacher asks the Girl's Hockey Coach to sign her up for the scholarship. He agrees. The problem is, The girls team doesn't like Figure Skaters because they represent everything a "TomBoy Hockey player" isn't. And so forth.

Well...there is this part where the girl finally has enough from one of the hockey players and she shoves her in the back...

The Hockey player turns around and looks at our heroine and asks
"DO you want a piece of me?"
The heroine looks back at her and says
"No HONEY I want the whole thing"

I died laughing.

I've never seen the movie, but did see the play in highschool. So much nicer than all those happenings with that Dorien Gray fellow.

I hope that some people here are as earnest... er, honest as they can be. For it would be bad if we who are in search of a partner greet, woo, and then meet someone and find out that wasn't they real name at all. Ironic yes, to read this coming from a guy called HornyViking722, huh? Sorry, it just seemed fitting with my current events.

My movie qoute is from the Abominable Dr. Phibes (lol)

Where can we find two better hemispheres
Without sharp North
Without declining West
My face in thyne eye
Thyne in mine appears
And true plain hearts
Do in these faces rest

Yes I know it's actually John Donne, but I wanted to follow the steady flow of comment traffic and find a movie qoute to suit my mood. Great post Toothy!
