red and white stripes.

Soccer...

One of my greatest pastimes. One of my greatest passions. The game that has given me so many thrills. I still play weekly. Religiously.
I remember the first time I played... the first goal I scored... the first game I watched on tv... the first game I went to see live... It was at the same stadium, to see the same team I 'll be seeing on Sunday...

Olympiacos. The team with the red and white striped shirts. Both of my parents were supporters. Only I became a bigger one. I rarely miss a game. I have had season's tickets for several years now. I have so many memories. I remember my father and me going to the stadium every Sunday, after our mountain hike and picnic, both dressed in team colors, celebrating each goal together, cheering and clapping, occasionally screaming, but always having fun.

Olympiacos. The team that has just won its 34th soccer championship. The 9th championship of the last 10 seasons! No other team has ever done this, probably no other team ever will. Olympiacos. The team that just won the Cup too, beating local rivals AEK 3-0 in the Final, even though our best player, the world renowned Rivaldo, was absent. The 22nd Cup in the club's history, again many more than any other team.

Olympiacos. This Sunday they are playing the season's last game. A day for celebration. A day for all of us supporters, young and old, rich and poor, to rejoice together. A day when our smiles will spread throughout the stadium. A day when our cheers will reach the skies when team captain Djordjevic raises yet another trophy. All of us knowing full well that the next one is just around the corner.

Olympiacos. The team with the red and white striped shirts. My team.

Hope you have a great day. I don't usually watch football unless I'm outvoted and then its only Ireland or Liverpool matches.

Enjoy the match, the play, the passion, the excitment...

lol... of course I will. But I didn't forget my mother either! And incidentally, it was my mother and not my father who made me a fan of Olympiacos!...

heavenly_
thanks!
I know Leeds United very well, btw...
The very first game I watched on tv was the FA Cup Final between Leeds United and Chelsea in 1970! It ended 2-2 and there had to be re-match. Though a Chelsea supporter at the time [again, blame my mother, she used to live in Chelsea before I was born, she had even brought me a Chelsea outfit], I strongly admired THAT Leeds team... with Billy Bremner, Johnny Giles, Alan Clarke and my favorite Eddie Gray...
Best of luck to Leeds, they do belong in the Premiership!
kisses.

Yes...
My father had actually 'forgotten' about soccer till I learned to love it. He was actually happy just hiking. I was the one who started pushing him to go watch the game initially. Needless to say he was soon addicted. In later years, whenever our team played away, I would always visit him and we would watch the game on tv together. And that 's another set of memories...
kisses.

I 'm glad you played, it 's such a great game!
When I was living in the States, I played for several co-ed teams and always had a great time...
And I have some stories from those days too! Maybe some day I 'll write about those too... lol...
kisses.

Thank you for stopping by, it 's good to see you here.
I support many clubs, none nearly as much as Olympiacos. From Spain Barcelona, Ajax from Holland, in Italy I 'm equally torn between Milan and Juventus, in England I 've supported Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, not in that order... lol...
But I 'm a great fan of Brazil, England and Holland on national selection level... in that order... lmao...
