Turn Out The Lights At Busch Stadium!

The St. Louis Cardinals, 100 game winners and Major League baseball's winningest team during the 2005 regular season, went down to ignominious defeat, losing to hard-throwing Roy Oswalt and the Houston Astros by a final score of 5-1 at Busch Stadium Wednesday night. By losing Game 6 of the NLCS, the Cards have now been eliminated from a chance to face the Chicago White Sox in the World Series.

Redbird fans and the entire Cardinal baseball organization tip their hats to the Houston Astros who proved to be the better team, at least during the short 7-game NLCS. The Astros have outstanding pitching and will represent the National League well against the ChiSox.

Wednesday night's game is the last game that will ever be played in Busch Stadium, which has served as the home of the St. Louis Cardinals since 1966. The first game at Busch Stadium was played on May 12th of 1966 when I was very young Tiger cub. I will always remember the games attended there with my father, now deceased!

The 2006 spring training season begins next February when pitchers and catchers report to the Cardinal training facility in Jupiter, FL. We'll get 'em next year!

Wow! I've been to many Cardinal games at Busch Stadium, but never saw such lovely fans as these in attendance! Makes me wonder ... Is it "Busch" or "Bush" Stadium?
