This crazy landscape of Internet dating

It's hella late as I write this, since the career machine doesn't seem to be making a whole lot of time for stops. In the late hour, I was reminded of a conversation with my best friend that happened the other night on the way back into SD. We were looking for a late-night taco shop (one of the few luxuries this islander affords himself with the workouts and long hours) and inevitably the conversation turns to dating and relationships.
Now my friend is a true hedonist, in the dictionary, biblical skirt-chasing to the power of X sense. He says, quite profoundly that the problem with women is that they never seem to get that men basically only need 3 things: food, sleep and sex. Not necessarily in that order.
Hell nooo, I decry. There has to be more to it than that. A sense of accomplishment, belonging, service, and obligation. Tenderness, and all the things that come from a man's work and a man's accomplishment. Family. MORE!
In the end though, I wasn't really sure if he wasn't on to something. But that doesn't mean I won't keep going after all of it.
IS it really that simple? For the most part, I am concerned that he might actually be on to something by tapping into the primal core of it. After all, his life is blissfully less complicated, since his goal set is so much more...I almost said smaller, but really it's a matter of focus. My argument is that it's more of the other things along the way that add richness to your life, besides just fight flight and fuck.
I was then promptly reminded that we were out driving late at night for food. Right bastard my friend is sometimes, but only because oftentimes, the simplest answer is best. Think he's right? Let me know.
