Crucify my love.....

It is the soft amber way in which he leads in that strikes me....slowly, softly moving along the keys.....as if in a whisper. You can hear the question as it flows past you in such an umber voice. You can hear the heartbreak, the gentle cry......the longing.

As he moves on into the movement his voice rises just a notch as his pleading becomes stronger. The deep notes of the his left hand strike with such poise and swift precision. It is truly a romantic dance. The left hand providing the ground in which he stands as his right hand leads you along his lustful misery. Truly, this is a man who knows the quiet eternity of his broken heart.

Beethovens "Moonlight Sonata" 1st movement.

I used to play this in college over and over in the quiet piano room of our dorm and dream the dreamers dream. Hours upon hours I would spend at the keys trying to hear what it is he was trying to say....to understand the soft strokes of his pale voice. Such a man was known as a monster and most who knew him despised him, even in his most triumphant hour. Such a pity that God had reached down from his high throne and laid his hand upon our ears and hummed a most gentle lullaby and all we could do was see the vehicle in which he used to do so.

So often it is a broken man that can see the steeple's light, be drowned in the perfection and power of such a beauty as to kill a simple soul and find the strength to move on anyway, day after terrifying day.

I stand in awe, even after all these years.
