Obscenity is whatever happens to shock some elderly and ignorant magistrate.
Bertrand Russell

I found this amusing. I collect quotes. They line the walls of my office in colorful mad bursts that catch my eye at certain moments.

The quotes I collect usually have a meaning that amuses, inspires, or even infuriates me.

If it provokes a response, I want to think about it. I want to discover what inside of me responds to a quote.

I find the following quote obscene.

Love is the delusion that one woman differs from another.
H. L. Mencken

How trivializing. How demeaning. How grotesque.

Men...imagine if we women were saying to all of you men...

"All dingalings are the same. None are special."

I haven't used the word "dingaling" in such a very long time. My...my...my...

Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place. Billy Crystal

Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily this is not difficult. Charlotte Whitton

Chuck Berry "My Dingaling" actually a vrey funny song

The ancients thought love was a delusion and madness. I think they were right. How often in the throes of passion have people overlooked gross character defects or justified bad acts? Constantly. When out of love and able to think rationally, many reflect on former lovers and say: What was I thinking? When infatuated you cannot think clearly. The male equivalent is beer goggles!

A case of one man's "thinking" that casts an unfavorable light on all men.....fortunately, in their defense, they are all not aligned with that thinking. Lots, but not all

Ravyn...does that go along the lines of...

"Won't you play with my dingaling?" I bet that haunted your mind today!

Perhaps the view I find offensive is that I would be the same in a man's eyes as any other woman.

I find that intolerable.

I don't have to be better. I just have to be me.

But woe...if anyone were to be brave enough to suggest a cookie cutter mentality or persona from me.

Yes...Mags you are right and fair to point out this could be unfair to men in general.

That's true. There are some men...who truly are quite evolved and yet retain enough sexy machismo to...well...uhmmmmmmmmmm...you know.

We are each unique and special, like our fingerprints, DNA, our experiences and our own spin on existence. Yet each of us is the same in many ways, with many of the same desires, legal rights, and similar viewpoints. Special, yet the same. A contradiction yet also a reality.

Mencken was a humorist cynic. Perhaps his quote could become more acceptable if rendered: Infatuation convinces each lover his love object is the best, and the love felt the greatest that has ever existed or will ever exist.
