Letting Go

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.
Henry Ellis

Letting go of anger, jealousy, hatred, pettiness, shallowness, and bitterness.

Holding on to friendships, humor, glowing, flowers, good food and good chats, and a sense of self.

Thank you, God, for this good life and forgive us if we do not love it enough.
Garrison Keillor

Letting go seems to be the hardest thing for us to do in this life. Holding on is easy.

When you're green
you're growing.
When you're ripe
you rot.

Most people are other people... FUCKING CHARACTER LIMIT!!! ~Oscar Wilde

Mags...yes it is difficult to let go, but I'm not a clinging morning glory, just an alyssum.

You are a magnet of attraction.

The pain in our lives can be like an old blanket. Warm and safe in it's familiarity. It's hard to let go of that.

But when that blanket is let go, you can wrap your arms around great things.

Forgiveness is key to being happier in my view. Forgiving yourself and others...

Mr. Sharkey - comparing pain to a blanket...it is true. Sometimes at least it feels as if holding onto the pain assures you of slipping away from feeling anything at all.

An interesting metaphor...

Mags...we all stick sometimes...it can be labeled love and loyalty or it can be slapped with a label like sticky.

Red...yes, the line..."to err is human, to forgive...divine." or something like that, runs through my mind with your words.

Wonderful reminder...

Stickiness can be good...especially if it is sweet.
