Reaching out in love

Traveling in Bali was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Here was a poor country. Yet, in all the time that we were there we never saw anybody begging.

The families took care of each other. As a family unit, they ran their own business's or worked in the rice fields. When a product got sold, the money was the families money and shared among them.

Last week I saw a lady who was unemployed sharing a room with her 11 kids. They had only one bed and shared one blanket. It broke my heart.

The family network is so important, yet it seems the more educated we become the less we stay together.

I remember meeting a 27 year old man on the street. He had lost his job. Then started selling all his possessions, until he had nothing left. He came to Durban in search of a job. Not managing to find a job he ended up living on the streets. When I spoke to him I found out that his parents lived in Port Elizabeth. They did not know what had happened to him as he was too proud to let them know that he had lost his job and everything he owned.

Is love not bigger than pride? Why are so many people struggling on their own with out asking for help from their loved ones?

Is is not time that we started reaching out in love to one another?

I love it. Much better than your jokes. (I loved them too, but this is much more real).

Hugs

A man once told me... I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. No matter how bad it gets, someone always has it worse. So I guess some people are happy with what they have, instead of worrying about what they don't have. As long as I wake up, and get up, and have my health and my mind, I feel I have everything I need to get the rest. If I lose a job, I'll find another. If I can't make it with only one job, I'll get two, or three. Whatever it takes. To sit on my pity pot crying woe is me, I will continue to have misfortune and sorrow. It's when we are knocked down, with dirt kicked in our faces, that we get up, brush ourselves off, and keep going that we will have success. If we sit and wallow in our crap, it only causes us to stink. There are two characters in life we can choose. One is the victim. The other is the survivor. If you choose to live your life as a victim you will gain nothing but pain and suffering. However, if you choose to be a survivor the rewards will be success and happiness. As for asking for a handout or a handup! If I ask for a handout, I am asking you to give me something. With no intent of repayment (victim). If I ask for a handup, I'm asking for help getting to my feet with the intent to either repay you one day or to pay it forward and help the next person who needs a handup (survivor)! How many of us have the feeling of accomplishment, when we succeeded in completeing something we attempted by ourselves. doesn't it feel good. No, it feels great! Pride can be a fulfilling thing. Fulfillment is very satisfying. Agreed? Thanks, Steven.

I agree with you Steven. I am sure we could have very good conversations about life. Take care!
