How do you stay motivated?

How do you get yourself to do things that you don't like to do... like homework. I don't necessarily dislike homework, but I seem to have a big problem with motivating myself to start homework. Are there any tricks that I can use? hypnosis? medication? I'm a huge procrastinator.. it's probably my biggest flaw as a student and a person. Is this something that people can change?

I've lost my drive as a student. As an undergrad I was passionate about learning and challanging myself. I don't know what happened, but I just don't feel that way anymore. I feel too old to be in school and I'm not really sure why I'm still doing this to myself. My life is full of forward momentum, but I have no idea where I'm heading. I don't really care about doing well, I just want to be done.

You are not too old to be in school. There are a lot of us who are either going back for a second degree, getting a master's degree, or just plain taking classes for fun.

The procrastination thing sucks.I used to be that way until I realized how bad it affected what I wanted. I just push myself to "Get it done Now". No matter what it is, I take any spare moment to get it done. I squeeze homework in between classes. I stop by the library for research resources in a 30 min stop on the way home, pay bills on the shuttle bus - any spare moment of time, think of what you can do to make it productive. I think if you force yourself to get in the habit of this, at the end of each night you will have done a lot, and can finally rest and get a good sleep.
