THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS (Bette Midler)

It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way,
you always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name -- for so long,
a beautiful smile to hide the pain.

CHORUS:
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and ev'rything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it,
I would be nothing with out you.

(CHORUS)

Fly, fly, fly away,
you let me fly so high.
Oh, fly, fly,
so high against the sky, so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you,
the wind beneath my wings.

**My daughter made me cry today. Not because of something wrong she did. What she did and said to me were too right. She came up to me, gave me this huge, tight hug and told me that she loves me no matter what. She didnt follow it with wanting anything in return. (she usually loves to ask for money to go to the mall and/or go out to eat with her friends,etc...)lol
~ Of course, automatically, since I'm so used to her doing it because she more than likely ends up wanting something, I asked her if something has been bothering her or if something was on her mind. It wasnt anything she wanted.- not at all.

She simply told me that she just loves me very much and she's glad that I'm her mother! She melted me, brought a tear to my eye and made me feel special- Very special! She made me feel appreciated as her "mom".
Gosh! I'm so lucky to have a beautiful child as her. She is the reason I keep on going day to day..I love her with all my heart. She is definately THE best thing thats ever happened to me!

I hope my son keeps doing that for me for a few more years.... It's that unconditional love that keeps me going, too.... sometimes, if it weren't for him, I don't know how I'd make it through!
It's so sad when they get to their teens and start to realize we're not so great after all. I'm so NOT looking forward to that.

Here's to hoping our kids still love & cherish us for many years to come.

Passion247000,

I agree~ it definately is the most wonderful gift of all. I picked that song there because its been a song tradition for the family at weddings. "The mom and daughter" dance. My sisters who got married so far, all chose that song with my mother for their dances. As much as I hate to think about letting go of my daughter one day when she gets married, I hope she picks that one for us. If she dont, that'll be ok too.

Thanks for the visit!

Its great when people surprise you like that,
Good for her, and good for you - you must be doing a good job as Mum (you say Mom I think) and getting the rewards for it.
Despite whatever else is going on in your life, good or bad you know whats really important - where your centre is, if that makes any sense.
    A xxx
cheeky,

It was awesome for her to surprise me that way. (yes, we usually say "Mom" here.lol)
I'm telling you, that little girl has been my God sent from day one.- My angel!

there is nothing like the love of a mom for her child. it is really the only true love.
my favorite story when elias was a baby was the robert munsch book, "i'll love you forever." i cried when i first read it, so did the other mom's on the ward when i let them read it. after giving birth hormones ya know!

DBG~

I totally agree with ya there. I never read that book. I must check into it though.........the way I've been emotionally lately, I probably will end up crying. Stress does it to ya every time.
The "after giving birth hormones" lol was one thing I thankfully never had as bad as most new moms do. I was too caught up in waking up 500 x's a night making sure Candace was breathing right. Yeah, I was a little paranoid! lol

Elias....I like that name! I'm most fond of the "unusual" names for some reason. Most of my sisters are all unusual names. I think I inherited that from my mother.

That is a beautiful story!

I don't think you were paranoid as a new mother, running in to check if they're breathing 500 times a night sounds perfectly normal to me.

Years ago I was babysitting some friends new baby--it was the first night they were going out after she was born. I have always babysat a ton so no biggy, and they were totally carefree.

Well, I put Erin to bed and then I sat on the couch and began to read. Well, long story short, I found myself up every 3 minutes and running into her bedroom to see if she was breathing! Finally I scooped her up and lay her on the couch beside me--where every 4 minutes I looked for at her or had my hand on her back as I read.

When my friends came home they were like, "Oh, you didn't have to keep her out here with you!" I was like, "If it doesn't bother you, I just as soon I did----I found myself running in her room every other minute to see if she was breathing! I mean if it was MY kid I couldn't care less---but I CAN'T let YOUR baby die on me!" Keep in mind, I was like 29 years old---much older than when you had Candace. Everybody does it.
