reflection of glories past

Where are now the dreams divine,
Tempests that ripped through an awakened soul,
As the winds their colours shine
Through an opal jewelled but ravished hole

Moving in a joyous trance,
We were like ancient boughs entwined
Reminiscent of old romance,
in our world of etheral kind.

Giants we were, or morning stars,
Invincible. mighty,a sight to behold
Mingling in the titan wars
Fought afar in keeps of gold.

Gods, we battled and stood beside,
Wrought away in splendid strength,
Never could out love subside,
Till we had travelled the universes length.

But would they know us now? I think
Old companions of the prime
For our oak at last has felled
Muddied with the lees of Time.

Fade the heaven-assailing moods:
Slave to petty tasks I pine
For the quiet of the woods,
And the sunlight seems divine.

And I yearn to lay my head
Where the grass is green and sweet,
Mother, all the dreams are fled
From the tired child at thy feet.

The last 2 verses are not mine, but they end the poem nicely I think.

No matter if two are not yours, it just felt right for you to finish it that way maybe you have just invented bi-poetry?

"There is no trouble that words can describe,
no passion, no god-sent calamity whose
weight cannot be carried by human-nature."

Orestes by Euripides
