MORE INSOMNIA INDUCED RAMBLINGS

I just want to get to know more about ya here! Like what type of work do you do? Do You love it,or Hate it? What type of work have ya done before? And What would you do if ya could? I'll tell ya mine then ya can tell me yours!
I'm a carpenter, stuck with a crappy company, doing mostly roofing,And I hate it,I'm to old to be on the roof everyday! I've owned my own company but ran it in the ground,During the end of my marriage! I've also been a floating manager for a chain of convenience stores,I liked it at first but soon lost my taste for it,I just didn't fit the corporate image, that wasn't me!
I've worked on bait boats in Florida, carried drywall too!I've worked in shoe stores and once drove truck,Once I was even a farmer!
But what I'd really like to do when I grow up is work with animals again!
So now tell me what do ya do?
Love it or hate it?
What have ya done?
What do ya want to be?

At the present time, I am "working" part-time at my roommate's, parent's accounting business. They took pity on me because I didn't have a job.

I've been a nurse, institutional aide, nursing assistant, human service technician, school bus driver, worked in retail and, worked in manufacturing.

Working at the accounting business is nice. I enjoyed nursing at one time but don't any longer. If I could, I'd like to work in human resources doing employee training of some sort or recruiting. Or, I'd like to work in corporate communications. I'm four credits shy of a degree in communications.

This was a very good question. Thanks!

Hugs

Work I do now - IT Procurement Manager for head office and stores.

Love it/hate it - used to LOVE it - then they moved me and the job to another department - now I HATE it. I was off for 4 weeks cause I couldn't drive with this toe thing - it took my "manager" three weeks to get people to help out. When I went back, things were as shitty as they were when I first started a year ago. This week has been so stressful (hone AND work) that I have felt like walking out.

What have I done before - used to work in a department store, used to work in a bar, used to make wedding and bridesmaids dresses.

If I had a choice, I would go back to retail work but for a charity - as long as I had a man to support us both - couldn't afford that otherwise.

What do I want to be - happy. I want my job to move back to the old department - it was great. Even though I was busy, I could make the kids laugh and I was kinda like a mother hen to them too - they kept me young !

I miss them

I'm in the restaurant and night club business and I coach a
team of exotic male dancers be the fantasy of every woman who
comes to see them. The productions are incredible and it is alot
of fun to be involved with the creation of the shows and the performances on many levels. I think when we do what we love, the
money always follows and it is critically important to keep the main thing the main thing.
Keeping the dance floor filled has always been a goal of my business since I opened the doors 33 years ago.

I taught dancing for nearly 30 years a couple of nights a week while continuing to do other related things and I opened and sold several other businesses along the way. I'm thinking about writing a book now and yet today, the work with the boys keeps me in touch with the world of dance in a delightful and entertaining way.

Being self employed allows me time freedom that others wouldn't have and yet it also makes demands of me wouldn't be upon me if I simply worked for someone else. It's always interesting to me when one of my customers recognizes me on this site and writes with an * I know you * email! More times than not, I put in serious hours...one way or another...and the real truth of it is, I need someone to take me away from it! I, personally, am not even a club person...don't like them, particularly..and am not much of a drinker! It is interesting to look at how the dynamics play out in my life when my business is entertainment to others... it is work to me although I always have fun with what I do...

I do other things along the way also...just can't keep from having my fingers in a couple of pots

Just a little food for thought.............
If you really want to be happy, nobody can stop you...

Well, prior to my sudden, uh, "Letting Go" (re: my post "THIS SUCKS") I had been a security officer... and, I hated it! but it was a steady paycheck... just something to do while I decided, again, what I really want to do!

Prior to that... Convenience Store manager (for a little over five years)

Prior to that... Profession EMT and volunteer firefighter (was injured in a bad fire one night... spent about a year in physical rehab)

Prior to that... Emergency Services Coordinator / CPR and First Aid Instructor with the American Red Cross. (Loved that, but resigned to become a full-time EMT) (and freelance writer)

Prior to that... Director of Public Relations for a large CPA firm in Baltimore, Maryland. (and freelance writer)

Prior to that... Full-time enrollment in college; B.A. Communication, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania

Prior to that... Payload Integration Analyst, Martin Marietta Aerospace (lured there from the Navy... laid off 18 months later when the contract wasn't renewed)

Prior to that... Intelligence Specialist, United States Navy. (REALLY loved that job... wish I would've stayed there!)

Anything else I can do for ya, Spunky? Always glad to assist a fellow researcher!

Hmm I am a Customer Care Consultant for you know where. Right now it is a job and a pay check. Some days I like it and others I hate it.

I was an auditor, a staff member on a working wagon train, a merchandiser, and a clerk.

I want to own my own design company someday.

Juicy
