CULT FILM CLASSICS

I'm sittin' here online while one of my fav movies is playin' in the background~ "Office Space" is it's name, and really a great flick for those that haven't watched~ If ya spend ya day in a Cubicle and work with computers in any way, This is a "Must See"~
But then I watch a lot of "cult films"and yes I like the "Artsy Fartsy" ones to, I follow alot of The "Sun Dance Film Fest" types~
the first cult classic I remember, other than "The Blob" was "The Rockie Horrer Picture Show" enough said there~
But the ones that I watch over and over always involve Jay And Silent Bob~ The first bein' "
Clerks" which hit home for me as I was a cashier at the time~ Check it out!
then there were some follow ups includin' "Jay and Silent Bob's revenge" that also had afew stars in it and was one of their best~
The one that most impresed me was one called "Dogma" this one was a killer flick~
starred many top stars,Affleck,Stiller,And george Carlin ta boot! This is a really funny spoof on the Catholic religion, don't watch if that'd offend ya!
So has anyone else seen any of these?
just what do ya think if ya have?
Any others I would like ta see?
~just let me Know~

Sorry, but I am waiting to see The Libertine starring Depp about the 2nd Earl of Rochester.
The Secretary was amusing - Maggie Gyllenhall and a guy that I can picture but not name !

Tsotsi that I watched last weekend was excellent too, a real surprise but it's subtitled and about a young man in the shanty towns of South Africa who runs a gang - in a nutshell he steals a car with a baby in the back and the baby brings out the compassionate side in him.

Cinema Paradiso was also BRILLIANT ! Another one on subtitles though.

The Libertine was BRILLIANT.

Don't expect lots of sex and stuff - and I have no idea how historically accurate it is - but Depp acts his socks off. It's not a pizza and beer kinda movie - watch it when you're in the mood to concentrate and not watch something light and fluufy.

Top recommendation.

I don't know if this is a cult film or not. But, I like "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle." That is just too funny! I also like "It's Pat." That is one stupid movie! But I love it!!

I've also grown to love silent movies. Every Sunday night on Turner Classic Movies at 11pm CDT, they play silent flicks. The oldest movie I've seen is "The Great Train Robbery" from 1903. The first movie murder occurred in this film.

Peace

spunky11961 replies on 8/1/2006 8:02 am:
Hello my friend! Yup Harold and Kumar qualifies ~grin~
I've seen both, but that's interestin' to see that ya like the non-talkies,they're part of history and watchin' them gives us a glimpse into the past~

Them {or was it They ?}...huge mutant ants! Clerks 2 is out, of course, but haven't been off work to see it yet. Don't know if it qualifies {maybe for 'camp', along with Hudson Hawk} but the Legend of Boggy Creek. I remember Solyent Green.

The Rocky Horror Picture show is tops.
What other movie do you take toast, spray bottles, newspapers, rice, etc... the audience got so involved, I'll never forget doing the time warp with all those nutty people!! Ahhh those were the days!

Yeah, I loved Dogma. Great film.

I'm really into movies though. Old, new, mainstream, cult, I have very wide tastes.

Not really into Westerns though.

The only one I saw was Dogma, and really enjoyed it. I generally don't watch a lot of movies.

That being said, I like the Action/Adventure/Sexy ones that require no thought to enjoy...I know its remarkably shallow and uncultured to admit that...

spunky11961 replies on 7/31/2006 8:01 am:
Welcome! nothin' uncultured or shallow there on watchin' one's ya don't need ta think on~ I find lately that if I want somethin' I need ta think on,I go here ta the blogs, the movies just fill in the background~

My favorite movie is "Clock Work Orange". The movie is about four young punks that get into trouble and go though hell to get out of jail. It's a good movie ,,,it's dark in a funny way.

Peace,,,,,,,,,,,,,coolness.............N.B.

I'm a huge fan of the Evil Dead series. Especially Army Of Darkness.

I alos love Clerks, Clerks II, Mallrats, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob. Chasing Amy kinda depressed me, though.

I still wanna track down the Mortal Kombat movies on DVD. I started playing the games again on these arcade compilations. The second movie, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, didn't do too well, but the girl playing Sonya in this one is hotter than the other, though she was cute, too. Still wish they coulda made a third movie. I couldn't get into the live action TV show, though, and the cartoon was kinda dumb.

Come into my realm! You aren't afraid...are you?

Hey Nick~ welcome and thanx~Like your choices there, thought the same on "chasin' Amy" and I hear ya on the mortal Kombat~
