losing a pet

somewhere around midnight last night I hear my cat (he was actually the kids' cat, but claimed me) making noise, thought he was just being a pain in the behind, so I thought "he can wait a couple more hours til the other half gets up". When that happened, around 3 am, he goes outside and brings kitty (yes thats his name, couldn't get our little girl to call him anything else...lol)in. he's hurt bad, we don't know exactly whats wrong though. we take him into the bedroom and lay him down. I check on him periodically throughout the day. as the day wears on, I realize that his pelvis or back has been broken, more than likely he's paralyzed. He has no control over bodily functions and he cant get up. with no money for a vet, I very tearfully call spokanimal and tell them he's a stray and has been hurt really bad--probably run over by a car, knowing they'd try to help him. hopefully they can. at this point, I really have no idea. told the lady from spokanimal if they can rehabilitate him we'd like to adopt him......imagine that, adopting our own animal back. I sit here find myself silently praying that they can help him. I never before thought much of him as being a member of the family, but now that he's not here, I miss him.

I know what you are going thru I just had to put one of my bird dogs to sleep monday am. She has been slipping for a long time I gave her one last exmas she was a super friend and will be missed greatly. It's one of the hardest things you have to do inlife is to let a friend go, but she is not suffering any more. I know your pain. lol

ohhh i'm so sorry to hear about this!! is the kitty gone-gone? or were they able to help? and i guess i need to stop yelling at my kitty for waking me up whenever i don't hear my other cat wanting in. i'd hate for her to really need me and me not there for her.
