The need for Speed

The state of Iowa recently increased the speed limit on their interstes to 70mph. This weekend I drove a couple of hundred of miles on I80 and I29. I was driving 80mph and getting passed. I saw one state trooper and he was just sitting there letting the vehicles zoom by. In South Dakota the speed limit is 75 on the interstate and if you drive over 80 you will be pulled over. So, this begs the question: Why didn't Iowa raise their speed limit to 75 or why do they let traffic average 80mph? Iowa seems to be run by insurance company money that does not want the higher speed limit. I remember when South Dakota raised their speed limit how all the insurance companys claimed a 1000 more people would die a year. It didn't happen. One question remains, why is all the traffic so fast on I80 between Omaha and the Quad Cities? Because nobody wants to look at all that stupid corn growing by the road.(I am a cattle farmer, I do not raise row crops)
