Does Customer Service exist today?

I am just confused as to where the true customer service has gone. What ever happened to - yes sir, no problem, we will take care of that right away and we apologize for the inconvenience. There are a few sayings and guidelines that I have heard over the years that really seem to make the difference in public interaction. Simple really, I guess the younger generation has just not been educated to this.

No one likes to be around a downer personality.
Always smile, listen and try to be positive in your comments.

The cloth makes the man.
Unfortunate but true. Dress nice and you will be treated with more respect.

When ever-possible address people with their first name.
This lets the person know that they were important enough for you to remember them.

Yes or no is always a good response to a question.
No one likes the long way around the barn approach, just answer the question.

Rules are meant to be broken.
Do not be so rigid that you forget that we are all just people.

Spread the smiles and laughter.
Smile and make people laugh when you can. It is contagious and someone down the road may benefit from you starting this process.

The customer is always right, even when they are wrong.
Follow the give in pennies take in dollars approach.

Doing this for the right reason.
People who do a job for the mere benefit of the revenue are generally not good at what they do. Do what you love and you will be successful.
