I WAS ASKED TO LEAVE ELVIS' HOUSE

The day started out innocently enough, myself and 2 friends off to Memphis to see 2 kings, Elvis and the convention center was having a Napoleon exhibit. I should have known there would be trouble when my friend Brent arrived and he was wearing a rather large crown that he had purchased from a theatrical shop expecially for the trip. We decided on the drive over that Brent would wear the crown everywhere we went and pretend to be royalty from some little known country, and my friend Amber would be his blind date send to Memphis by a game show called The Love Connection. I would be along as chaperone and cameraman.
We arrived at the Peabody, our hotel in Memphis which some of you may know is famous for their ducks which are paraded twice a day in and out of their foyer to swim in the fountain. Brent began his reign at the ducks exit parade, by standing next to a 6 foot tall head of Napoleon made of chocolate , it was on the mezzanine overlooking the main floor, he loudly proclaimed, Napoleon as a dead king and himself as "Living King" he received a polite round of applause and we got pushed to VIP status, ( Nice basket in your room for that btw). I of course am capturing everything on celluloid for future viewing .
By the time we arrived at the Rendezous ( a famous Rib joint in Memphis) word was out that a "Real King") was visiting Memphis, now, we all thought it was terrible funny, but you know, i was a little scared that the charade was taking on a life of itself, but Brent, who in real life is a 6'4" Tractor Salesman from Texas, was having the time of his life, i started getting scared that he would asked to accept the key to the city! Little did i know, that our visit to the Kings House would be the crowning achievement of our weekend.
So, our first night we reveled in Brents new found Celebrity, and immersed ourselves in Beall Street and all things Memphian(is that a word) i drank more free drinks that night than I have in my life,it seems everyone wanted to "Buy the King a shot" by the time we got back to he hotel and collapsed in a drunken heap, it was nearly 3 AM. We considered Day 1 a success.
Day 2- Graceland. The Debacle. Coming soon.
