I hate this place!

I received a call from the paralegal in my lawyer's office today. I have an appraiser coming tomorrow to look at the condo. Apparently the bank wants a current value in order to write the equity line or refinance or whatever it is my husband is doing. My first thought was that this place is such a mess right now. I've been purging and am beginning to pack. The place is in total disarray. Then I thought, "who the hell cares?" This guy is coming to put a value on the unit, not to judge the appearance of the condo. So I suppose I'll go do some laundry in the morning and continue the purge/pack task. As all this was going through my head, I suddenly realized how much I dislike this condo. I've always felt that way. I tried to persuade my husband to sell it when we first got married. It's too small for 2 people. It's dark. It's desperately in need of a total, gut it to the studs, rehab. He wouldn't even go for that. His reasoning was that he didn't want to postpone his retirement in order to do this. Had we done it 10 years ago when I first suggested it, the cost would have been a fraction of what it will cost now. Now he basically has a very dilapidated condo to which he can retire. It's very sad. I hope he's happy here. I never have been.

Steady now. You have enough on your plate without worrying about what is on his. Do your own things at your pace. You are no longer his keeper.

And now you are getting ready to leave and move on to a new "all your own" nest.

Whether he's happy or not is no longer your concern!!

Isn't it great that you don't have to clean up! Not your problem.

You are going into the light;discarding the dark and the cramped.

Amen.
