Prayers?! Why should I help you?!

What's up with all the "prayer requests" from bloggers?

Why the hell should I pray for some blogger's family member or friend? Espeically someone I have never met before!

What if someone wants me to pray for a person who just discovered they had cancer? What if that same person smoked 10 packs of cigarettes a day? Like hell I'm going to waste my time.

What if the person was an asshole too?

I don't get it.

30 minutes before work is over. The jetlag is starting to take hold...I WANT SLEEP!

You need a beer or something!

People pray all the time for people they dont know. The power of prayer is a strong thing my friend and just being a kind human being makes me want to help others whether I know them or not.

As for those who smoke and then get cancer, your prayer should be for them to have the strength to stop and for the cancer to heal.

Come on now, chin up, put a smile on your face, have a nice day at work, and come home with a new attitude

Purry is absolutely right.

You only pray for those you know as long as you have a whole history of their situation and approve of it? Come on...that's so unrealistic.

I'll say a prayer for you right now. I think you need it.

Thanks for your comment!

Work's done! WOOHOO! ETA for sleep is 5 minutes after I get on the bus back to our Camp.

I say prayers all the time. But to me, it's more about superstition and being personal. I'm just not onboard with saying a prayer for someone I have no clue about.

I'm having too much fun here in Russia. The US won't be home for a while.

Prayers are a way to allow us to show the humanity that was given to us. It does not matter if we knew the person or not. It is humanity that is supposed to be shown in these situations. It is not our place to judge why this person needs a prayer....it should be our place to hope that with prayer our humanity will remain...and instill it in the one we are praying for....

It is called life....shall I pray for you now??

No prayer needed. I just needed the small nap I just took. Jetlag SUCKS!

But, I wonder who really benefits from prayer? The person being prayed for, or the people doing the praying.

That may be the point I'm missing.

So, even if someone is not deserving of a prayer, one should be given without judgement as a display of our humanity? Interesting take.

No need to pray for me, but thanks for the offer! My Mom turns into a priest everytime I leave Texas and blesses the hell out of me right before I have to go through security.

Do you equate prayer to be like meditative healing?

I once analyzed why I felt better after I went to church services, back when I DID attend church. I discovered that two things seemed to happen that made my mood so much better:

1. After attending Catholic masses for over 2 decades, most Catholics can tell you that not much "new information" comes across the alter. I bascially used the time to just "zone out" and enter a meditative state. This may have given my mind and body time to heal or just relax enough to get me energized for the rest of the Sunday.

2. Since I was always late for churh, I never ate breakfast before mass. I think the eucuristic bread may have acted like fuel for my starving body.

I see you go away for awhile and come
back to rock the boat in your own style...
"Option"... a differnet veiw and twist...
We all have the right to them no matter
what they maybe...It's all in the manner
in which we place them before others...
America, I might not agree with what you
believe, but I believe in your right to
believe what you do....

I blinked just once on my trip back the US and before I knew it, I was on a plane BACK to Russia. Kind of like when I blinked here in Russia and Summer was over.

This last time back to the States had me pretty freaked out. Maybe it was just the security precautions getting to me, but this was the first time I actually dreaded my return. How crazy is that?!

I guess that's why my posts have "changed".

I'm still glad to see you, though. That will NEVER change.
