The pattern

Question....Has anyone ever thought that their life is a pattern? That no matter how you try you keep running into the same thing? The same outcome? You think that things will be different even in the slightest of ways yet you end up right back were you started? I really believe that you can change the pattern though it takes lots of time and patience ( which I do not have at all) The other thing I believe is that each part of our lives is a circle. A beginning a middle and an end. Things happen in your life that seem to happen so many times yet with differnt surroundings etc. Yet if you sit back and notice that they have similarities more then likely you can figure out what you are doing wrong. I am at a stand still right now in my life. Continually doing the same thing coming to the same end. I have tried differnt options different actions reactions yet still at the same place. That brings me back to wondering if this is where I am exactly suppose to be. Perhaps I should learn from these choices. Perhaps I should just give up and say well that is that. It is what it is and move on. My mind tells me that over and over again. Yet my heart and soul tells me the complete opposite. Am I dwelling on it too much? Am I wanting to feel things that are just not suppose to be felt for me this lifetime? Or am I just so stubborn that I know it is there and that I do not want to take the chance that I will never feel that way again? *sighs* I don't know what to think at this point actually. So many people tell me to live right now to be happy with what you have that things could be worse. Yes, that is true but how do you give up what you ache for? How do let go of what is in your soul knowing that it is where you are finally at home with? Any thoughts on that?

Okay to the norm...

I think at one time or another, We have all experinced what you are talking about here in one form or way at least once in their life.
I can't begin to tell you how much this relates to me and my life,
But you have pretty much hit the nail on the head with me. "Smiles"
This life is full of twists and turns that I believe take us down the same path over and over again, Only different people each time.
I have been down several paths in my life and It is said that you seek out what you have experinced to relive the experinces again.

i believe the things you talk about are familiar to the majority of people here, if your truly unhappy you have to decide if you want to leave things the way they are and keep the status quoe for every one or make the change you really want to make and adapt your life and the people in it to the situation that will give you happiness or at least a piece of mind. but thats up to you. the choice is yours you just need to get up the courage to make the change. good luck.!!!!!

Sometimes it is not the courage to do so but the ability. As for reliving things over and over or going down the same path sometimes you do not even realize till you do it a few times and come to the same conclusion. A Habit is a hard thing to break. I have broken them a few times *laughs* but here is another thing...what if it is not the pattern but it is just the way things are to be in this life time for it your choosen path? Have you ever thought that you are not to be rich ( I mean filthy rich well if you are damn hook me up LMAO J/K) in this life time because of the fact you were filthy rich in another? That you know what it is like having great things yet you have never had them this life time? That is just a for instance. It is like knowing what a great love is...knowing that feeling without never experiencing it. Not just knowing but knowing the feelings/emotions/touches that go along with it. Just a thought...* laughs*

Many a parable has been written on this very subject. The circle- the yin-yang. However, what you also describe can be thought of what we have become in our own everyday lives - A slave to the machine (it's a metaphor - just go with me on this) and how as machines there is a constant of repitition. Until something breaks....
It really is pretty easy, just break the machine... awake from the dream and see the real world for what it is.... A brief moment of time where you can explore so many people/places/dreams.
Sometimes we keep the patterns welded together so we find comfort (and yes even despair can be comforting as it is the constant) - - but every now and then there can be the break that frees you to change the pattern - elongate the circle - - - or:
To just get laid!!! (had to throw that in there as it was getting too heavy)

i truly believe that we have our destiny in our own hands there is no set plan, just a framework to point us in a general direction we can decide to follow that frame and fulfill our lives as best we can within it or if we have the strength and desire to we can pull our selves out of it and take our lives somewhere else. either way the choice is ours to make.
some people never see the fact that they are in a (rut) so to speak, and never think about changing it but if as you say you realise you are stuck in a pattern or if it is brought to your attention by others, you are lucky and now have the ability to make choices.the ability to make a change is always there you just have to be willing to deal with the consequences of your actions and how they would affect those around you.

the best choice and the hard choice are usually the same.

11/3/2005 4:13 pm are actually rather right. A machine will continue to work well as long as it is maintained. Clean ...Lubed ( ALWAYS TIME FOR LUBE ) If you do not keep up the maintance and let the machine continue to work harder at something it will eventually just break. As for the *rut* you are right there too..misery loves company does it not?? for the breaking the pattern to just get laid....* smirks* Like I said ...there is ALWAYS time for lube

Enjoyed your thoughts on the circle of our lives. I have heard it said that if all of the resources in the world were divided up equally today that in a short time we would be right back where we started. Our personalities guide us for better or worse. I believe we can improve outcomes when we address the issues that hinder us. I do not believe very many of us will accomplish a radical alteration of the past patterns of our lives. Thank you for your insight.
