Fish out of water

I dreamed about my goldfish last night, well actually it was a nightmare of sorts. I woke up once at 4.30 but managed to get back to sleep and that’s when the dream surfaced.

In my dream I was standing at the kitchen sink and it was full of hot, soapy water. I seemed to be holding a fish tank and emptying the water out of it. Suddenly looking down I saw that the fish must have fallen in as they were there, swimming around in the hot, soapy water. I tried so hard to catch one of them with my hands ( and that was so scary, I don’t even like getting them out with the net)... but I did manage to catch one and put onto a little bowl that was by the drainer. I looked at it laying there and then all of a sudden it started shrinking, smaller and smaller until finally it shrank so small it disappeared.

I then tried to find the other fish amongst all the soapy water bubbles and pushing them aside all I could find of the other fish was its head, no body, just laying on the bottom of the sink looking up at me.

Now dreams are suppose to represent things in our self conscious apparently so when I remember my dreams, which isn’t all that often, I do try and see if I can figure out what they mean by interpreting the symbols from this lovely dream website I really like.

To see a kitchen signifies your need for spiritual nourishment. It also forewarns that you will be met with some depressing news.

To see a sink in your dream represents your feelings and how you control your emotions. You may need to cleanse yourself of past feelings and start fresh.

To see soap in your dream, indicates that you need to wash away some of your emotions or past memories. You may also be feeling emotionally dirty or guilty and are trying to wash away the shame.

To see fish swimming signifies insights from your unconscious mind. Thus to catch a fish represents insights which have been brought to the surface. It may also imply a slippery or elusive situation.

To see an aquarium signifies that you have acknowledged your emotions but have not yet confronted them. Thus, it may refer to your unconscious thoughts or repressed sexual desires. Also, you may feel that your life is going in circles.

To see objects shrinking indicates that they are not as important as they once were.

To see a head in your dream signifies wisdom, intellect, understanding and rationality. It may also represent your accomplishments, self-image, and perception of the world. Hmm. Odd, no match found for fish heads...

Actually thinking about it all these things could mean quite a bit to me, or it could just mean that i didn’t sleep very well.
