I was on an upward climb up until.....

....the end of Sept.

It's a long, long story, but in a nutshell the company I work for has been in the process of "going public" and so along with that...there are court filings, waiting periods and more court filings...more waiting..etc.. in the meantime, investors can't send funding....until it's all clear so that has left our company in serious financial bind... in fact I haven't had a paycheck in 2 and a half months now.... so the $$$ struggle to keep home and everything connected with being a homeowner going has been extremely stressful...and now here it is

~~ Christmas ~~

I have one saving grace or actually 2...

1 is that I have a very nice fat trust fund that my mom is allowing me access to in order to maintain what I normally would be paid every 2 weeks...

Plus my rental on my apartment attached to the house...

So with money still coming in... it helps...but I have to pay that trust back...

and my fear is...

What if we don't get our back pay???

I can't quit my job..(because I quit my last job to come to this job)....haven't been laid off or fired....all though that might change today... (we lost a client) oh well....??

So.. it's heavy stuff (for me right now). Heavier than I'm accustomed to I should say...and I am not liking it one bit.

I do hope all works out for not only me... but for all of us going thru whatever it is we are all GOING THRU... especially at this time of year.

Thanks...for listening... Slide.

I need chocolate...and lots of it...

Damn, you are a dedicated employee to stick with it. How nice to have the trust fund to rely on.

Hey, Hey there Dust...thanks for stopping by. Dedicated..noooo not really...but caught in a bind. Can't quit cuz if I do there is no guarantee I'd get unemployment..especially since I quit my last job..for this job. Haven't been fired...haven't been laid off. I suspect cuz the "boss/owner of the company" knows it's agains the law... so I don't imagine he want's to risk getting into trouble.

Oh gosh, I tell ya, if it weren't for that trust fund...and a very understanding/loving mother...I just don't know how I would've managed. I couldn't have if not for that...this I know.

I hang in there with my job only because I just can't take the chance that under the circumstances going on now I'd get unemployment benefits.

I called unemployment this morning, and they said unless and/or until I am actually separated from my job...they can't tell me what my rights are...but most likely the "interviewer" would certainly understand.... HA... I can't take that chance.

So, I guess I'll be giving the labor board a call in the morning and see what they say.

Plus...I have deep respect for my co-worker....and if I had bailed or even if I were to bail out of the situation....she can't do everything by herself... that's why I was hired to begin with because she was alone in the office. She's a great gal, and totally on top of her game in her field... she reminds me of "me" when I was in the automotive industry....which I spent 26 years in and only just this past March made a complete change and went into the healthcare field..specifically, medical billing. Big, big mistake..lol.

I've just today started looking "elsewhere" ...and hoping that if I find something, I'll still get my back pay...but ?? I'm also a whole lot worried and stressed like crazy...that what if I don't.

No wonder I'm up half the night...

I was in a similar situation not long ago. I wasn't at the point you are currently but being the one paying the bills and scraping to make payroll, I saw the writing on the wall. The unemployment thing is correct, in AZ until they lock the doors you can't collect. But hell, if you aren't getting paid, start looking girl! Hold your head high and know you are worth a lot more than you're gettin' right now! Dust off that resume and get out there! I ended up making a bunch more money with incredible benefits! Good jobs are out there and believe me, if you have half a brain you're way above most in this labor pool in AZ! And sue that idiot of a boss you've got. How dare they use you. There's money somewhere . . . they're eatin' right? Why should you have to borrow when you are the one working for them! Good luck in your search, I know you'll find something much better. When we reach these crossroads we merely have to work through them and know we are strong and deserve the best!

Hi Phx..thanks for stopping by. I did FINALLY get laid off...whew. That's what I was waiting for, knowing I can't risk just quitting. Unemployment laws suck and there should be provisions for circumstances like that.

I made damn sure I got a letter saying I was let go due to changes in company circumstances. Then last night, my ex co-worker and I were talking via IM and managed to get her to say that I wasn't fired. I've saved all of my IM with her because she was sorta like a supervisor...except it was just me, her and the owner/boss.... but we had people in India... (I hated dealing with those people)...so I've saved all of those conversations to show labor board or anyone else the situation we were dealing with.

Anyway yesterday when I signed up for unemployment and they ask about the circumstances... I made sure I told them everything that had been goin on since Sept. and that the co worker remaining is still working without pay. Thanks again...
