Respect

While I think most people where raised with some form of manners or another, something in their brain must turn off when they think they are right. Sorry not everyone, but some people anyway. My mother would still to this day tell me to mind my manners. Have respect for other peoples feelings.

What is this world coming too when simple pleasantries are quite simply ignored? Now if I simply state I would prefer not to have this conversation at this time. Why must one person insist that the conversation must continue? Now mind you this is a casual conversation not one between family members or significant others. Sometimes those need handled whether one person agrees or not. Opinions are like assholes they all stink and everyone has one.

The world would be a better place if we all were taught manners and tried to use them. I know that I sometimes forget to use my manners, and quite honestly feel bad when I realize what I did.

Ok to everyone who reads this I must apologize. I am just venting. Somehow I think it is better then kicking the dog. BTW the dog thanks you.

Mouse, this is one of my pet peeves too. I like the way Hannibal Lector sees this. If you're polite and respectful, he'll chop off his hand for you or kill the guy in the other cell for disrespecting you. If you're rude or disrespectful or impolite, he'll eat your brain, and serve your liver with a nice chianti and fava beans.

I'm a big believer in being polite. One of the many gifts that my mother gave me was raising me that way. Respect for others and treat them as you would hope to be treated. Too bad not everyone in this world is on board with those ideals...some folk just seem to be way too wrapped up in their own world to understand that they are one of many cogs in this machine of life...some seem to feel it is all about them...hmmmmm....faaaavaaaa beans!!!

smackyman I just got back from a friends house found myself teaching their six year old manners. I know that some people just don't think about it. Manners should be second nature sigh oh well guess it will always be on my list of things that piss me off.

We spent a while recently working on a small Caribbean island. Everyone you passed said hello, how are you, and that kind of thing. Found out later that the children are taught that, and if they ever pass someone without saying somethng, the offended person tells the parents and it is corrected. Not a bad system. Sadly, as things everywhere, that seems to be changing, just wish it would spread, not decline.

And as for one (of hundreds) of pet peeves, how many times do you email someone a respectful letter (one where you actually check the spelling) and you recieve no answers. Just thought I would add to your's a bit.
