August Fall Out......Again.

Being a huge baseball fan, this is supposed to be the time of the year where I get excited and gleam with anticipation for the coming Fall Classic. Being a Cub fan my whole life and adopting the Indians and Rangers along the way, I have grown to be evermore disappointed this time of year. As a Cub's fan, I can truly say that I know the meaning of the word SUFFERING! Living in Texas now, and having a brief stint in Cleveland, OH, I have to come to find that there are others out there too. Indians and Rangers Fans. If I wasn't such an addict to baseball, I very well might pass up on the season tickets next year, but there is always hope that next year is our year. As a Cub fan, I have been saying that for 99 years and counting....and I am only 30 ugh!

I have heard it said many times, as I'm sure you have heard and probably have or will say it to your boys...."It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game."

I know that it's disappointing when our teams don't do as well as we wish they would. But, really, is them winning the reason we love them so much? It's great when they do, but just being there as part of the crowd, the excitement and fun with friends and family and other fans...the beer, hot dogs, peanuts, etc....that is what is so fun! That's what makes us go back for more.

If it makes you feel any better, here in Tampa Bay we have learned that winning isn't as fun as being amused in order to fill the seats. We now have free parking, if all the pitchers total 10 strike outs everyone gets a free pizza coupon, the section behind home plate has black cozy lounge chairs and there is huge stingray tank in the right field stands that is just waiting for a ball to land into.

In the past the Trop was referred to as "the morgue" because of the creepy silence during the games but this year I actually stayed awake until the 7th inning stretch once, but of course it was free kids hat day so that was fun too.

And having a team that all together makes as much as each Yankee player, is just well, as fun as it gets! Go Rays

Ok...if anybody understands this it is you being a D-Rays fan. However, you do have some hope in Scott Kazmir, but not really until Steinbrenner sells the Yanks and John Henry sells the Bo Sox.

Try being a Cincinnati bengals fan for the last 12 years. At least they are coming around. My grandfather went to Reds training camp. He never did get to play Major ball though. His mother and father died, and (being the oldest) he went back to provide for his ten brothers and sisters. J

I hear you about Cincy. I am somewhat of a Reds fan, my sister lives in Dayton at Wright Patterson AFB. As a kid, I adored Pete Rose, still do. Never been much of a Football guy, though. But I do pay attention due to the Cowboys being the local religion down here!
