I have been reading a series of books by Laurell K. Hamilton. She calls the series the "Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter" series.
The books are super awesome. I first picked up the novel thinking it would be another vampire story that has been done a hundred and fifty times before. I was surprised. The way she writes is very fresh. She uses bits and peices of drama, horror, comedy, romance, and action to really bring her world to life.
The first book in the series is called "Guilty Pleasures". It introduces Anita Blake as an animator, someone who raises zombies, and a vampire hunter. She is petite with pale skin and dark hair. Most people are surpised she is up to her job because of her size. She is one bad ass woman. Her main love interest in all the books is Jean-Claude, Master Vampire. He wants her and her soul and she doesn't want to give it up.
The second book is "The Laughing Corpse". It continues on with the story, yet it has it's own flavor. Her writing style is the same, but you can tell she was in a different mind set when she wrote the book. I totally enjoyed it.
I have also read the third book, called "Circus of the Damned". In it she fights a million year old vampire and meets her second love interest, a werewolf high school teacher.
I have only read the first three books and look forward to reading the rest. There are about fifteen books in the series so far. Apparently Ms. Blake takes on multiple lovers as the series progresses and the books take on a more vampire porn feel than real fiction. However, her writing style has intrigued me and I must continue on with the books.
If you get the chance and have the time, read this series.
Well, that is all for now,
Love ya later,
