Lincs

Today I thought I'd write about Lincolnshire...

When I can think of something.

Actually that's unfair, although I'm not a native of Lincolnshire it's been my home for a few years now and it's been good to me.

It may be flat, but look at those skies! We're talking big sky country, and, of course, the Fens have quite a history, King Alfred and his cakes et al.

And food! Where would we be with out all those sprouts grown around here at Christmas, and the pumpkins for November.

It's also very cosmopolitan these days with Portugese, East Europeans, Chinese etc who come to the area to gather in crops and work the numerous food factories. Hopefully in time this should start producing some interesting restaurants, music and other cultural events.

Yep Lincs ain't so bad

My mother's husband used to run a pub in Burgh-le-Marsh, so I have visited Lincolnshire on the odd occasion. That drive up from Boston, passing all the fields with their riches buried in the ground, waiting for the harvest. We also visited Skeggy... now that was an education in itself!

They are no longer there, so our need to visit has diminished somewhat... but I'd still like to see the Cathedral in Lincoln!
