Why are old love letters so hard to throw away?

We live in a throw away society. When something go's bad we throw it away. Love letters are no longer written by hand, and saved in an old trunk to be read by future generations. They are deleted by the simple push of a button. It is so hard to forget, because beauty so seldom finds us. But once it touches us...we are forever changed. But nothing is lasting....no not much. The older I get the more I learn....but the more I learn...the more I don't understand. And the more I try to forget. Here I am 50 years old....where is life going? Fifty isn't young...and fifty isn't old. But perhaps it just the beginning of getting older. We seem to be dumb when we're young....cause we don't realize what we want. When we're young we don't need anyone. But as we age we begin to understand the power of a simple touch. Just sitting here on a friday afternoon reading old love letters. Half way trying to remember....but at the same time trying to forget. Wanting to delete...but something is stopping me. There is more to a book than its cover. Inside there is more to me than most people will ever see. It takes a special person to bring out who we really are inside. Here I am....I cannot be myself. But there was a time...for a little while...I was who I truly am. As I think back...there is a sadness. But also as I relive those special moments...I cannot help but smile. But enought of such thoughts....its a beautiful day outside, to be enjoyed.
