Hopeful or Hopeless?

There’s hope for men out there.

I offer this prediction not because of my gender, but due to anecdotal research.

Certainly, entire websites and blogs are devoted to the foibles of men who use online dating services.

But recently, while discussing this topic with a woman who is an online friend and a veteran of some years on these sites I asked for her opinion. And she told me only 65 percent of the men on these sites are dolts.

I was thinking the number would be much higher. So the majority of us are dolts but there is a strong minority who make up for it. I see this as a hopeful sign.

Doltish behavior can be defined in these ways, but not just in these ways:
  • Writing one-line come-on notes that start with “let’s fuck” or some variation on that theme.
  • Getting so caught up in the hot profile pictures you forget to read the profile. If she’s asking for someone over 6-feet in height, it will be hard to fake that unless you are 5 feet, 11 inches and change.
  • Ignoring the fact she is looking for a long-term relationship and you want a quick hook-up.
  • Asking to come to her home or asking her to come to your home, on the first meeting.
  • Bragging unduly about your sexual prowess.
And those are just the beginning of the list. Fall into these traps and the other 35 percent are going to be taking advantage of your mistakes. Still, I feel better that at least a third of us have our act together.

you friend is right..65% or maybe more are weenies..the others are bloggers..

It does seem like most of the good folks are bloggers, saddletramp. But more than a few non-bloggers are on the good list. Actually, plenty of the audience here is made up of folks who don't blog.

Excellent post and I think your friend is right..Having many male friends that are in a serious search though for "the one" tell me they have to pay the price from the idiots that give cyber dating.. or sex sites a bad name..well I guess woman do to.. not me no way...

And for the folks that think because it is a sex site that everyone just wants to fuck are so closed minded.. I tell people that sex sites are just a lil more open minded group of people in alot of areas.

And why the hell do people get mad when they read a profile that says "married discreet please.. and then blast them with an email..Hey there being honest..Dayum I can go on forever on this.. Ill shud up now.

I hope I'm on the right track on this.. I think so.. Iam.. no??? yes.. JUST HIT ADD

You are definitely on the right track [blog MRSMUFFLAND]. I'm happy to have you keep the list going.

A very few folks know that I started blogging (and hitting the group message boards) only after I got hounded out of some parts of this site my The Morals Police. That's when I was still looking. I listed the fact I was married. I suppose it would have been better, by their view, if I had compounded the lie.

Just had an asshat write me tonight about coming to his home or him to mine. hell I wrote the asshead to inform him that I am married in case he didn't read it, and he got all fucked up in the brain and said I was looking for a commitment from him I told him I didn't want him or need him and there was no commitment being sought with him by me hell he wrote to me for goodness sake. All I said was that I don't deal in one night stands and it was clear all he wanted was to fuck.

Forgive me but I wish sometimes I could bottle herpes, and other sexual diseases and just administer it in shot form for all these one night stand dicks. Bet they would think twice before wanting another one.

I am the real deal! "Come Get Me!!!"

How true! And I can honestly tell you that it has nothing to do with age either. Older men can be just as obnoxious with their emails as the younger ones. Rocky, unfortunately, all men cannot be as wonderful as you!

Thanks whathusband, I appreciate it. I suppose I was always taught you get more with honey than with vinegar.

But I must confess, that when I was looking I often ignored the age preference of some women. Several of my online male friends did the same. As someone who is experienced with younger women (and older women too) I reasoned that perhaps they could be persuaded. I think my friends had more success with that. However, that is the only preference I tended to ignore. All history now though.

Is it better, then, to be a blogger than a weenie or a dolt or an asshat? It's so hard to fit in sometimes!

Rocky, as far as what TTiger has to say. Yes, the bloggers are the best of a 'bad' bunch.
